Hi all,
I have 500 pop on a 59 plate and want to add an aux cable...
I’ve research how to do this and it seems pretty straightforward!
But I’m wondering how to feed the cable through the back of head unit into the little side pocket next to the driver’s seat just under the gears? Or into the glovebox/shelf?
Can anyone help please...
Thanks

Hiya, is it fairly straightforward to feed the cable through? Would it be better feed the cable through into the glove box/shelf?

Hi,
I don't have a 500 so can't give specific instructions, but generally to do this sort of thing, assuming you have established there is route between the two points, is to start at the destination with a "fish" wire (as in fishing).. This is a fairly stiff but ideally not springy piece of wire. A length of one of the innner wire from some domestic wiring (T&E) cable or a coat hanger work OK. You feed this through the hole were you want the Aux cable to come out and direct it, bending if required, down the route you want the wire to run. Tape the aux cable to the end of the fish wire and pull it carefully back bringing the Aux cable with it. This is much easier than trying to blinldly stuff a cable through a hole from behind the dash etc. If it is a long run you might use a shorter length of stiff wire with a longer length of string or flexible wire taped to the end to pull it back.

There's no obvious route to the shelf area but straight down is fine and from there you can get it to the pocket though you might hit your knee on the open pocket.
I didn't try too hard to find a route to the shelf area but will give it another go as the cable I bought has stopped working maybe due to being pulled as it's too short when I get another once there even a short cable would be fine think my original was 95cm long

The gable I bought is 100cm, so hopefully that’ll be long enough...think you’re right about hitting my knee...I’ll have a look at both options and see which is best. Thanks again for your help
