Hi everyone first time poster and looking for some advice, just bought my daughter a 2009 1.2 lounge, but the steering wheel is torn and tatty.Could I do a straight swap with a 2016 wheel
Thanks Darren

I think the newer cars have a different shape wheel and airbag so arnt directly interchangable

Aren't the new ones dual stage? Typecastboy would be the best to ask, or find a replacement one of the correct year, if its just the outside rim, I got a leather cover that you have to stitch on, it look ok and has made our hard pop steering wheel much nicer to hold.

You can’t swap it for a new shape one but if it’s black you could put a sport steering wheel on. If it’s the cream one you will have to get a replacement. There’s usually loads of them on eBay.

You can see my videos which will help you get the wheel off.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Another option would be to have your existing steering wheel retrimmed.

There are plenty of folks on the internet offering this service.
Yeah did look at that but I’ll still have to take the wheel off

Yes you will. Not a difficult job but replacement steering wheels can be bought for £50 or less.

If you do this, just remember to disconnect the earth lead of the battery first. Follow my guide for getting the airbag off then it’s just a matter of the bolt on the centre of the wheel. Keep the road wheels straight so you don’t put the wheel back slightly off centre.

You can remove the audio buttons. I sold mine for £20 off of a worn steering wheel.
