2017 Lounge: radio oh what a radio

And I am not referring to the sound quality.
You can no longer use the buttons on the steering wheel to go up and down the memorised stations. The only way to traverse your own stations is to touch the station you want on the radio's screen.
Three issues with that:
1. you need to take one of your hands off the steering wheel while driving
2. you need to take your eyes off the road while driving to pick the right options on the screen (don't forget, you can only see three stations on the screen, for any others you have to press "More" first)
3. it makes the up/down buttons on the steering wheel redundant and pointless

I pointed this out to one of the Fiat's mechanics at my local dealers' who knew nothing about it. On my 2015 Fiat Lounge, the buttons on the steering wheel would go through the channels that I had memorised and not some random list.

Are the steering wheel buttons working properly for anyone else?

The steering wheel buttons are performing correctly as you describe them. It's pretty well covered in the manual. In radio mode, the up/down buttons move along the frequency band, not along the list of presets for some reason. For what it's worth my BMW does exactly the same thing. So either:
  • cycle through stations using the toggle switch on the steering wheel or;
  • select the preset using the touchscreen (remembering the warning message about safe use that you clicked on when starting the car) or;
  • use the voice command button on the steering wheel to call up the radio channel of your choice...........
