Exclamation ESC Unavailable - No Hill Start Errors (Zip file with video attached)

Ever since I bought my 2015 fiat 500 on November of last year, I have been having a problem where the error codes "ESC Unavailable" and "NO HILL START" come on and my car will rev up to max RPM and stay there. Sometimes these are accompanied by other error messages such as "Coolant temp too high". Sometimes it happens as soon as you start the car, and sometimes it will happen when you have been driving for a while. When this happens the car wants to go about 40 MPH and you have to hold the brake to keep it from moving forward. The car also revs up and down and the whole car shakes and it sounds like the engine is going to explode. It happens at random times, and the check engine light never stays on long enough to make it to the dealership. I tried taking it to the dealership once, but they don't know what could be causing it and keep telling me that the check engine light has to be on in order for them to diagnose the problem. One of the men at the dealership actually drove my car 300 miles and could not get it to happen. I also tried to call fiat directly and they just direct me back to the dealership and will not provide me with contact info on a more knowledgeable person. I have also started a case with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and have heard nothing from them. Has anyone else experiences this problem, or is there someone that might be able to tell me what is going on?

I have attached a zip file to this thread with a video of the car doing this. In this instance, the cars display counted down from 3 to 1 and revved all the way up.

Thank you for your assistance,
Ldhacker

Welcome to the forum

When I bought my Punto last year it was like a Christmas tree with all the errors and lights. Changed the battery and all was well. Admittedly mine was a lot older than yours, but it's definitely the first thing I would think about especially given the random, unrelated nature of the errors its highly likely to be voltage related (either dead battery or bad earth).

Re: ESC Unavailable - No Hill Start Errors (Zip file with video attached)

I had ABS unavailable and Hill Start warnings on my old Punto (not other symptoms I have to add) and as I was unwilling to pay for many many labour hours of 'exploratory work' to the garage I have chipped it for another car. Sub consequently I have gained snippets from this forum that it might have been a simple fault of broken brake switch. It might be worth investigating...
