Hi guys, I've not been on here for a while but I thought I'd post a photo of my wife's 500 pop, LOLA. I've added the chrome bumper inserts, chrome wing mirror covers, added a boot light as the pop doesn't get one and I'd like to add aluminium door strips. My wife loves her, she gets better with age, now running at 50mpg after her first service at Sturgess in Leicester.

In short, we love her and she still makes us smile!

For those that'll ask, I've used Autoglym for about 19 years and still do. I use super resin polish followed by a top coat of extra gloss protection. After a snow foam pre-wash she gets a hand wash with a woollen mitt but not always with Autoglym shampoo as I've never really been impressed with the foam produced by it, although I have heard there's a new one out by Autoglym with higher foaming properties. If I've used up all of the Autoglym Aqua Wax I dry her off with a large waffle pro micro fibre sheet and finish her with a quick detailing spray (Simoniz Quickdetailer at the minute as it was on special at tesco). The Simoniz does a great job on the chrome and black trim too. I use turtle wax ice gel on the tyres as a finishing touch!

Red always looks great after a detail ?

Looks absolutely fantastic - maybe the deepness of the red is partially due to your photography skills as well as the detailing? :p

I remember using Autoglym Super Resin Polish many years ago - how long do you find it lasts between polishes? Generally I use the synthetic waxes these days (Turtle Wax ICE Paste or Meguiars NXT) but perhaps I should give SRP another go. It is available here but is quite expensive.

Interesting you mention the foaming pre-wash - for regular washing, I use a relatively-cheap wash and wax (Armorall) as I find it has a nice sudsing action to float the dirt away without scratching - I guess we're both seeking to achieve the same thing.

A question about glass - we seem to get terrible water spots here when rinsing a car with a hose - drying with a chamois seems essential (I must have the wrong microfibre towel, as I find it doesn't dry at all), but how do you get rid of water spots that have already happened?

I might be the only person to say this, but I like the plastic wheel covers - smart and practical, as they can be replaced cheaply if damaged. Rather than alloy wheels which are heavier and take days to refurbish, and which are also more likely to get bent out of true...

I always go through a similar procedure with my Alfa and my OH's 500 1.2 Lounge. A little time and effort certainly brings rewards in the appearance stakes.(y)

Love the way the Autoglym SRP makes the color deep, shiny and smooth!
i use it every 1-2 months and top it with Dodo orange crush. really good on red cars.
good work :)

Bloomin' heck, i've just seen some of the results with the Dodo Orange Crush...it looks amazing! I'm too tight tho, i have loads of EGP left :(

Very nice!!! I use the SRP too, this was mine done a couple of weeks ago. Also used the tyre dressing for that brand new tyre look, me thinks red cars are the best!

Lovin' that red, looks gorgeous. Have you used Quartz on the wing mirrors covers, they are extremely black! This is what I love about the 500, soooo many variations on a theme and tbh honest, even if it's not to my taste, I can still appreciate that each one is loved by its owner and love that fact that they are individual :)
