Thanks. I pretty much redline the 500 everyday in order to make progress :cry:

That said, I have no idea about the hesitant car.. Cux it can react normally one minute and be a little dead the other.. I'm thinking about the fly-by-wire thingy?:confused:

I once had a very hesitant MX5 that got resolved with a new set of NGK leads. It's surprising how leads can deteriorate. I did look for performance leads for the 500 but I was unable to source them. Replacement leads (they will be expensive) have to be got currently off Fiat. Not too sure if the heat in HK is a factor.
I did change the spark plugs to iridium. A sensible guy would just buy the standard NGK plugs but me being a bit of sucker bought the best I could get (click here). I Still bought the cheaper of the range - there's another one that is even dearer . On the US spec iridium is going to become the 'standard' issue but they wouldn't be using Denso.
Another guy on here is not really a fan of the 'drive-by-wire' and leaves the Sport button off (Jnoiles). So it could just be done to the differences between the 500 and other mechanical setups.

P.S. This is the link for DIY re-maps.

Hey mate.

I keep forgetting to mention this, but I've already ditched the factory NGK plugs for these Densos.. The car sure did feel a little livelier but that was it.. It was probably down to the fact that the NGKs were badly worn :bang:

Thanks a lot for the link. I have remapped my Golf GTi and the Smart before. What kind of leads does the 500 use? I believe I only have the OBDII, or it might just be easier to buy a new set.

Next step for me then is surely to remap this thing myself :D:D Anyone with a 100hp wishes to chip in and share the map?:idea:

There are very few guys on this 500 forum who mod except for RobW (sold his car - had the Supersprint manifold) and Jnoiles (has just the GSR but has done a re-map but is looking to 'Supersprint').
On the link I posted - a lot of guys in the Leisure Lounge are from the other sections and in particular some of the GP and Panda guys are 'ahead' of the 500 'boys' so if you get no other responses here you could 'throw' a posting in there and see what happens. :)

Re the spark plug leads I reckon that a 'performance' set will come out since the 'patent' on them is now over 3 years old.

Thanks again.

I will probably be checking the spark plug leads visually first, and then source a factory one if I can't find any aftermarket. After all, the car has done some miles and in the climate here, it's not unreasonable for them to be shot I guess

Will post in that section! In any event, 100 quid for a performance map, generic or not, is good enough value!! I was tempted to get one for 300Euros!! :bang::bang:

Nouva (I've no shares in the company :)) do a ECU re-map and ITG Panel filter (IMHO the best filter) for £295 (I had strongly considered this). You post your ECU (OK a long way from HK) and it's sent back. I'd imagine that if you have the Supersprint manifold and sports cat ? on they could give you a 'proven' map on for that price. Ideally it should be done on a RR but the list of mods that you are going to have isn't that much. I get the feeling that your mechanic wouldn't be happy (the 'skim' posting) to be playing around with laptops and ECU maps - it might end up being an expensive exercise.
