OK, sod's law as I'm thinking of changing the car, a rock flew up this morning & made a small, but noticable dent in on eof the chrome inserts in the front bumper, and being a pickt sod, I'm going to fix it.

Th equestion is, how on earth do the chrome inserts come off? I know the accessory ones are stick on, so carefull use of a hot air gun would do the trick, but are the ones from the factory fit chrone kit the same? I seam to remember something about them being mechanically fastened, not stuck on.

I can feel something similar where the front chrome inserts are attached. I've poked a camera where the sun doesn't shine & attached a picture.

Personally I'd say it's a bumper off job if you want to remove these without breaking anything. Looks straightforward but I guess it needs 2 people if you don't want to risk scratching it.

Breaking it getting it off doesn't bother me too much as it's dented already.

I was thinking more about cracking the bumper. If you look closely at the rear, some of the tabs attaching the insert have been heat 'welded' & don't look like they'd give up without a fight.

Had to do this the other day. Pop a flat bladed screwdriver wrapped with some insulating tape or something of that ilk (or use a trim removal tool) behind it on the vertical part nearest the numberplate. Lever and voila, it comes away.

There is a small bit of sticky something in one part, but as far as I can tell isn't necessary and doesn't provide any real resistance to removal.

Had me stumped for a while.

Hi All,
Further to this thread, can anyone tell me if you do remove the chrome strips successfully what are you left with underneath?? Is it as per Pop/Sport spec, ie, standard finish with no chrome? Essentially I'm considering buying a second hand 500 Sport but it has the chrome fitted which I'm not a fan of so just want to know can I remove and be left with standard non chrome sport finish??
Thanks!
Mercky

Other postings suggest that if the chrome was fitted on the production line then there are retaining lugs (if that is the right word) that go through the bodywork to secure the chrome part. These holes would obviously show if you removed the chrome.

One of the main reasons that I would have in adding a chrome kit to a pop is to get the 'meaty' exhaust pipe on the back - the standard 1.2 is a bit wimpy. My understanding is that the only way to have this pipe is to have the 'whole back box'. Has anyone managed to emulate this exit pipe ? The €195 could be best somewhere else particularily if you want the retro look.

Hi all,
as a total newbie i've been browsing the threads but cant find what i need.
So ive decided to just ask straight out.

The wife has got a 59 plate 500 1.2 lounge.
She's damaged the lower chrome inserts on the front bumper, not the ones by the badge but the ones below the lights.
i've bought the replacements from e-bay and crawled under it and ive arrived at this point.
Just how the hell do i get the originals out and fit the new ones?

Thanks in advance to any helpful suggestions:confused:

No, the chrome tailpipe is an accessory.
It's different to the standard one on the Lounge.
It's more oval.
You can see it in accessories section on Fiat 500 website.
I think it's about 90£.
