I have a 1.4 and a remap and induction found me about another 10%. But it wasn't so much the overall HP increase, it was the torque and where it delivered it that improved. Make's her feel a bit more punchy where you want it.

Cheers for the replies ,are there chips which i can fit or is it best to get them fitted after rolling road work by a supplier has any one done anything to the 1.2 and how did it turn out?

a remap isnt a chip, they down load your map off your ecu and store it incase you ever want to go back to standard, then using the rolling road they work out a better map for your car and load all that info into your ecu. you get 2 print out from the rr one before remap and one after to show the extra bhp and torque

Are these the Alfarama people who would be best for me i am in kent i think they were in london ..

If I have my 500 re-chipped, what is the likelihood of the dealer re-setting it at the next service?

80% likely i would say and hence the reason why i haven't bothered

remaps only really worthwhile on turbo cars in my experience

Good job John has a turbo then, lol. John, I personally don't think that on a routine service anything would be changed but if there were any software updates added then your map could be compromised.

However, if this does happen most reputable tuning companies store your original map and the new map on their system and most will offer to reinstate the new map FOC in such a case. So really it would just be an inconvenience factor of having to go back to the tuning shop.

The other alternative would be a tuning box that could be removed in a couple of minutes whenever the car had to go back to the dealers. This could probably then be reprogrammed for a small fee if you were to change cars at a later date.

Sorry Rob, I inadvertantly thought you were answering John's question.

However, in my defence I have to point out that once a topic has been started most posts from then on have little relevance to the title. That's my excuse and I'm betting my red leather interior and winter tyres that would stand up in a forum court.

I stand guilty of changing the direction of the thread m'lord :D

In hindsight, I should have probably started a new thread relating to 1.3 diesels and remaps. (anyway - I got the answer I was after so 'job done' anyway (y))
