Is there a quick fix? It 6 weeks since I went to a garage with rust and that still isn't sorted yet either. Can't be faffed with a third trip...
For the wipers coming out? It was a very quick job for the dealer who did mine.

In theory, once they are set right they are set right for good - so, could they just be superglued in place?
Yes. Best way to do it (and the way the guy at the dealership did it) is to have someone in the car operating the washers whilst someone outside adjusts the nozzles, that way you don't do what i did and run back and forth and never get the sodding things adjusted properly :p

What the guy at the dealer did was to (for want of a better word) mangle the end of the little cylinder into the inside of the body of the washer so it will stay put. Personally I'd rather do this than use superglue.

Mine popped out yesterday whilst cleaning the car. Lucky I found them both and was able to put them back unfortunately they would stay in and rather than loose them and have no washer I have glued them in place with superglue.
TBH on every car i have owned the washers has nvr work correctly this is just a further addition to that list

Joined the club today. We had a couple of Frosts last week but I never used the washers until today the temp was about 8 degrees. The first squirt was ok and then on the second squirt out it popped. I had a fairly strong mix of washer solution too.
My wipers judder when the screen is clean and after a fresh coat of rain X but to be honest with rain X I tend not to use the wipers as the rain just flows off of the screen.

RainX just makes it worse. I've used RainX on 3 other cars before and it was great but the 500 REALLY doesn't like it!

Yes the washers are rubbish. Just checked mine and one was about to fall out. I had this way back in 2002 on a Stilo. Obviously from the Ministry of Crap Design. If it had a thread on the barrel the problem would be solved.

I cleaned my car today and since then the washers havent worked properly.
I'll go check in a minute, but if the thing out the side is missing what does it do? Mine is just dribbling down the bonnet on the one side, and the other side i just popped it back in as it was hanging out and now it's ok...

They dribble down the bonnet once the jet/barrel bit has buggered off. Thing is every time it freezes it'll get pushed out. I'm going to see if I can very carefully put a little sort of notchy lip on the washer jet body with a hot implement of some sort.

Cheers for that :)
Mine has gone haha, can't be bothered to drive to Nuneaton for that tomorrow though...

i never use the washer jets anyway. tested them once when i picked the car up and thats been it - they only ever smear all the crap all over the place when the wipers come on anyway. prefer to clean the screen manually with solution/cloth.

by the sounds of these problems, just as well.

Provided the mixture is at least 5:1 with a quality screenwash like that from VW/Skoda/Audi (about £3 a litre) and you squirt enough (hold for a full wiper revolution at least) the 500 wipers clean really well.

I'll admit it is annoying that some bubbles blow off the driver wiper onto the passenger side though.

So.... say if your windscreen is dirty and you're on the motorway you don't use the washers?

you have to argue with almost every point made on here dont you. what a moron you are.
Maxi has point, just now i had to wash my screen 3 times due to the grit/mud accumulation, and that was without following any other cars. With wet roads and muddy/gritted roads, following another car you'll be washing your screen every minute or two!

Ive been driving my 500 for a year as of yesterday, and the nozzles have never come loose... until today on the way home from the cinema. Luckily I didn't lose it though, it just stuck out a bit.

I blame you people for bringing it up and making me more aware of it and thus making it happen, like some sort of cosmic ordering. So there. :p
