Technical What I think of the windscreen washers on the 500

My 500 is just under two months old and has suddenly developed this fault on the drivers side - no frost yet this year (down south in Devon) so that can't be the cause for me!

Sport 500, 1 month old, wiper judder from day 1, "Give it a month, should right itself" . Now 1 washer jet has fallen out and apparently whole washer unit has to be replaced, hope Fiat fix wiper judder at same time. Will report back next week on progress. :(

My washer spat the dummy (well little cylinder ) today so called dealer - they service receptionist said it was a new one on him... why do dealers always claim a well documented issues are not known to them? :bang:

In dealer for an hour, replaced jet and body of washer (as 306 maxi advised) would appear that is really what "whole washer unit means".

Wipers ok now as well, as they have been replaced by new ones....although how month old wipers were faulty beats me. I would suggest that original set were fitted incorrectly at factory and not checked at PDI?

Reason given for wiper jumping was "there was something on the windscreen". Strange that after all the storms recently and Fiat service centre putting their cleaner on screen after I took it back on day 2, and also friend at Autoglass repair giving it a clean 1 week in as well. I will be watching other comments re wipers jumping, but it would seem that only cure is having new ones fitted post delivery, and .....CORRECTLY? (y)

The wipers will skip when it's a bit cool and they're newish.

Had two sets of wipers. Both have been awful and jumped no matter what cleaned with. Maybe worth a new set from a different company.
Mine skipped when new and in fact were worse when I had Rain X on the screen which is meant to make it better. Just let them wear in and all will be good.

Mine popped out on the drivers side today.
Just popped it back in!
Is it a big deal? Can I bring it up at my service in the new year?

I don't want to go back to my dearship more than I have too, they're a bit pants :(

Mine popped out today, popped it in again, out it came again, so I've popped it in again and it seems ok for now...

Thing is, it wasn't even cold today when it happened so I don't know why it's done it.

It also happened as I was driving away from the garage where I'd just had the microphone replaced for the blue & me :(

I think it's merely coincidence that it happens when it's cold. It wasn't cold when mine popped out on the 500 or the Panda. Temp fix on mine, dry it then a big blob of Blue-tac holds it in, but it's quite hard to adjust as you can't see the scored bit. Mine now shoots over the roof! Oops!

This design sounds just like the design of the jets I had on a Multipla 7 years ago. I found that when mine went pop, they just kept on doing it. Had to have mine replaced. I'm amazed that Fiat still uses this design really.
Won't put me off my 500 when I eventually get it though.

Croma has the same issue - don't know what caused it but the cylinder has popped out and now it does it every time. We had to secure it back with some hot glue which lasted for about a year - just in time to fail for the MOT - so the hot glue gun came out again! (y)
