Just having a look at Fiat official site and it appears the 1.3 t-jet is now the base engine on GP. Can anyone confirm this and is there a reason no new 1.2's, emissions etc ?
Because the 1.2 struggled to move all the weight
The 1.4 8v is now the base engine. It's quicker and has better mpg. The only advantage the 1.2 had is it's an insurance group lower.
They tend to be a little cheaper 2nd hand so that and the insurance make it a great first car. Agreed you wouldn't want to buy a new one though.other than for insurance purposes to be honest your mad if you want the 1.2

the 1.2 8v is the crappest thing ever. Seriously. I had one as a courtesy car and no way would i ever recommend one!
the interior is tacky compared to the sporting, the steering wheel, hand brake and gear knob is so plastic and horrid it can give you blisters! The seats let you roll out of the car when you turn corners, are you joking Mark?
my first car was a 998cc seat arosa S (S meant slow i think?) that did 0-60 in 15seconds and it felt alot quicker than the 1.2! never goin back to a small engine again.
