Re: New Mk2 Punto: Project Orange

you disgard the plastic sleeve if your swapping to a regular reverse etc. So if the plastic sleeve is off now you can fit any gaiter and gear knob you want (y)

the one i purchased was a gear knob from an hgt punto and the gaiter was included. Just scan ebay man. Its where i found mine. No need for the sleeve

Awesome.
Is it not a bit sketchy having the sleeve off? Or do I just have to be careful?
Thanks bro

A lot of cars don't have them anyway and you'll notice if you are driving along it is very difficult to "accidentally" go into reverse. The gearbox provides its own resistance against it unless you are stationary so I'd say it's perfectly fine to take the sleeve off

Sweet man. Coz that has been a total pain. Thanks

Re: New Mk2 Punto: Project Orange

Of course I'd wait for Lew to confirm but I'm just talking from past experience with suzukis
Thats exactly right. No issues with 5th or reverse by removing the sleeve. It doesnt affect the gearbox or anything. Its literally a useless piece of plastic. Its a normal gearbox etc. Once its removed it just reverts back to being any car without lift up reverse. Its easier to get in reverse and 5th imo with it gone. If your used to how the Punto has been working for years then yeah It might take a few weeks to fully adjust to 5th being slightly different to get into etc, but with me the car is so new to me that by taking it off now Im learning the car with it from the off so easier to adjust.

Re: New Mk2 Punto: Project Orange

17s are way too big defo. Im max thinking 16s but 15s would be cool.

Just thought I'd point them out mate! They're nice alloys but I didn't actually notice the 17". No idea how 17s would look on a MK2 they look nice on the newer models.
