So in Norway my car is pulling off the road, not crossing it as in the UK.

It has become worse through this summer. It was perfect last year, but suddenly one day the car started pulling slightly to the right. I changed the shock absorbers and springs last autumn before this happened.

Now it has gone much worse, and when I let my hands of the steering wheel, I might just drive off the road. But I have absolutely no clue to what it might be. Is the shock absorber ruined? It's Monroe Sensatracks all over the car, and they have worked extremely well.

If I drive the car over an obstacle (as a "speed bump" which is a common pain in the *** in Norway) i can hear a "clunk" sound from the right wheel area. Both front bearings are also changed (SFK).

Does anyone know where the problem might be? Any suggestions is appreciated.

Morten.

Swap the front wheels side to side and see if it pulls the other way - you may have a damaged wheel with all the "speed bumps".

In the light of your comment about the noise though -
are the joints in the suspension tight? (track-rod end, and the ball-joint at the bottom of the shocker).

If you can hear a noise there aught to be some movement to find with a big lever (my favourite tool for this an old tyre lever - about 80cm long with a nice strong almost chisel like end which will get into awkward places).

Hei.

I used a crowbar. Not a tyre lever - which I don't have. Nothing loose. But... the shock absorber top mountings looks damaged. The coil spring doesn't rest at the metal part, but straight into the rubber bush. So - I think I've found the problem. I wish me the best of luck...

Best of luck.

Sounds like you might need a spring compressor, so you can take the load off what's left of your shock absorber: there's a lot of energy in the spring with the weight of the car on it - normally the shock absorber and spring come off as one piece, but if the top has rusted away it may all release very quicky when you undo it [:0]

Take careB)

Hei.

Problem solved. Dismantled shocks etc. Shock are ok - 1 years old Monroe "sensatrack" all around the car. Spring compressor were attached. No rust. Mainly displacement. Springs didn't actually fit the car, they were ordered with the new shocks - the Monroes. Returned and got the cash refunded. New springs from Inter Alloy (Dutch company) which lowered the car 40 mm. Seems to work VERY WELL with the Monroes. Can now brake into tight curves, and the car is still in perfect level. Completely flat at roundabouts, and no feedback at complete stops. Il-perfekto...

It's a new car. I just have to recommend this.

Problem reappeared quite fast even after changing springs. [:(!][:(!][:(!] But today, yes today it is fixed. My good friend Arve the Mechanic at Peugeot - yes Peugeot, made a little more toe-in at the front wheels. Tam-tam-taaaaa!!!

Arve the Mechanic (as I call him) has been very helpful. He also changed my hub bearings a while ago, because I couldn't get them out myself. Actually, it needed 7 tons of pressure to get those "squeeking-completely-dried-out-bearings" out of the hub. So, if anyone is planning to change their hub bearings, you will need some air pressure or some fancy tool to pull them out.

So now the Abarth steering wheel is in place. :D
