Hello all.

I wish to attach a vTech to my Uno can I can tell my passengers "vTech just kicked in 'yo!"

Can I just take one from a neighbours car and glue it to my engine?

Thanks in advance.

Only a Vtec? That's soooo yesterday. You should fit rockets in the back like this car vvvvv

I can see why that would be useful, but I like the storage ability of the boot.
It is useful for carrying jumpers (wooly ones), barbeques and other assorted bits of miscellaenous crap.

VTEC is over-rated. I drove a Honda Accord once, '94 model, that I was actually considering as an alternative to buying my first Alfa Romeo 164. The 2.2L VTEC Accord, auto, was the same price as the 3L V6 164 auto. I suppose I evaluated the Accord after extensive pressure from colleagues and friends - "Japanese cars are MUCH better value and so much more reliable"...

Anyway the Accord interior turned out to be a depressing place to be (so ordinary, like a rental car) but the salesman insisted that I "rev it out to feel the VTEC kick in".

Well I'm sorry but all that happened was that the revs climbed more quickly for the last part of the dial and the tinny roar of the four-cylinder got a bit louder. The shift from the auto was a bit more of a bump when the revs were higher, as there's more of a drop to the next gear.

Surely it's better to just feel the force there all the time, like the torque of the Alfa's V6. I can't understand how these cars (Accord and 164) are even in the same price ballpark - I've never looked back since. And my 164 never let me down.

If you like the idea of an unexpected surge of power, maybe you should take an Uno Turbo for a test drive :p

Jai - THAT'S THE ONE I WANT! :D I want to put an spoiler and go faster stripes down the side, as well as upgrading the RAM and overclocking it. Might even add water cooling.

Alex - Shoo!!.. get out of this thread with your talk of sence and knowledge. This is a place for Vtech nonsence and gibberish. We'll have none of your brains here! :p

Whoops - I'd better delete that other post, then :)

You can get Mugen or Razo tunage for Hondas that might work on your FIAT. VTEC is the whole cylinder head so you'll need that put on, should fit OK but get 'helicoil' thread inserts put in so the bolts fit all right. And get the cambelt replaced. If you don't have a rev counter, put that on the windscreen pillar. You need a chip to get rid of the 9000RPM limit, and a quick-shift kit for your auto transmission. Make sure you save up the stickers from all the tuning, so you can put them on the door.

How are your lights doing? Not the headlights, I mean your lights inside and under the car. Blue is so last year, you want red, white, and blue now, pulsing rather than flashing.

Don't forget a decent sized back box, as a general guideline the tailpipe should be at least as large as a CD.

Lights-wise, I think Im doing good. I really liked the look of last year's christmas tree which we had in the house, so I have nailgunned the tree stump to the roof. I have to give it a bit of a spray paint with green as the needles are looking at little brown now. I also fear speed bumps as any sudden movements in the up direction could result in me having a car and christmas tree nailed to my head, and I'd never be able to get through the door at work like that.

I've got a rev counter already. I drew it in MS Paint last night, printed it off at highest DPI on glossy paper and glued it to the windscreen pillar as suggested. Some local chavs tell me that it looks "mint".

The chip - can I use any chip, or does it have to be a special one? I have a bag of different size and shape ones in the freezer so I would prefer to use those whithout the need of having to buy anything new. Im sure one of those will be the right size.

For the gear changing, I couldnt find any quick shift paddles, so nicked the oars off of a little rowing boat my dad has. I assume these will fit as-is or will they need a small amount of modification?

Stickers-a-go-go, just bought a load off of eBay. I bought some Ferrari ones too so hopefully this will make the car go a bit faster. That is how it works, right?

I'm thinking of a mod Alex (of all people) did to his 126!!!

Alex can probably remember the one...

He fitted a UFO lamp (the type that has a bunch of fibre optic strands sticking out the top that change colour and rotate) into a hole in his dash board (might have been the hole where a stereo goes, I cant remember as it was about 10yrs ago). It looked kewl.

But I have to say, you cant go past an unnecessarly loud exhaust. These work even better if you have an Automatic :) show everyone whos boss :)

Fake sponsorship always goes a treat, and a spoiler, fitted backwards for extra drag (I have seen this), stick on bonet vents and alloy fuel filler. The list goes on :) A riced Uno...

I've decided to go for something like this:

1986Uno45S - I think it's the lack of funny cigarettes ;)

Thanks :) I fitted a window over the radio hole and squashed a 4L paint tin to make a reflective box behind it that contained the lamp. Oddly enough this came up in conversation recently, in the context of the resulting rainbow colours. However, I should point out that it was YOUR UFO lamp. :p

I recall lots of people suspected serious amounts of 'herbs' being used, but that simply wasn't the case ;) I have to say though, the one time it was, I'd borrowed my Mum's Uno 45 and it was terrifyingly fast on the drive home, which I didn't want to have to make. I should have taken the 126 that day. Ironic.
