Technical Yellow star has appeared no message with it

Twice on starting up a yellow star has appeared on dashboard on start up and on both occasions after driving a few minutes and decelerating a ding sounded and the yellow star appeared again . Didn't do it on next trip out at all. Puzzled? Cant find a yellow star in Manual fault finding.
As its my first post I also want to mention a long standing error 'engine fault' appears on start up -been to 2 Fiat garages for assessment on their computers no joy! Car works fine.

is this not the external temp when it gets to low i know mine makes a ding when it gets at temp around 2

Can you check if the outside temp on the display is correct? It can be a broken external temp sensor...

Or it could be a bulb failure warning? Check the sidelights, turn signals, brake lights, and number plate lights.

Yes I thought lights checked them all but number plate light -will check that. Car is still driving well so don't think anything serious but today it came on and pinged several times!

Just some food for thought: the ding (from memory) is associated with low temperature warning (only) while an engine fault/bulb failure are accompanied by a different sound (beep beep beep) apologies for stating the obvious, but the fact that you had to ask (getting to what made me interested in this post) is strange as all of the above instances should be followed by a message on the display (and, if that is not the case, it could be indicative of something a bit more costly)
