guys, I want to keep my factory audio unit, but upgrade the speakers, and I was just looking for cd player alternatives and came accross this xcar link thing:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/XCARLINK-...2?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item3a70e02682

anyone heard of these, are they any good? How do they work? I presume the SRC button selects it somehow...it reckons you plug it into the cd changer port, question is, will my factory unit support it. I have the silver front unit, thats just a cd/radio....!

Hi, It's been covered here before, there are a couple of users that have them installed.

They work with the CD Changer function of the OEM CD Player. Pressing SRC selects it. It does not send the name of the song through the screen, just a maximum of 99 Tracks per folder, I forgot how many folders it supports, but enough. :) Pressing CD+- swtiches between folders. The quality is excellent, best you can get out of the OEM drive.

Cheers.

I am actually using a xcarlink with my CN+, works really well. It will be supported, but I recommend getting it directly from xcarlink and not from ebay. You get more support plus warranty.

The eBay seller, Dynamic Sounds Ltd, are an authorised dealer for the XCar-Link so the warranty would be the same as if you had brought it direct from xcarlink.

thanks for the replies chaps. I did try searching for any related links but my search skills are weak!!

im going to seriously consider one after i have done my drop links/tracking/brakes/discs/pads/front speakers....hum.

I've got one hooked up on my tape deck, works fine. More reliable that the multi-disc which I binned when it lunched its change mechanism.

Only problems I have with are if you press change track button repetitively to change tracks quickly the system sometimes freezes up and the tape deck drops the source and says its not found.

A quick off/on of the stereo fixes it.

Check my previous posts, you'll probably find more info.
