Technical X290 2.3 manual. Jumps out of second gear

I have an issue with my Auto-trail camper on a 2018 Ducato 2.3 130 Manual.
Especially when cold, if in second gear and coming off the throttle it pops out of gear into neutral. No problem in all other gears, only 2nd
It happens much more when cold, and only very occasionally when warmed up.
No nasty noises or any other suspicious behavior just come off the throttle in second and a light bang and into neutral it goes.
Anyone experienced this? Or know the issue. Thank you

Potentially gearbox wear.. :-(

It was known as a test for an 80's car I was looking at buying

Obviously rule out cable mechanism first

Thank you for your reply. Hopefully not gearbox wear, 22K miles, mostly motorway
