OK so whats the worst FIAT you have ever owned? I think mine has to be the first Panda ( an A-reg ) which was only bad because of the following reasons:

1/ It seriously needed a 5th gear, the engine noise at 80mph was, erm, "interesting"

2/ Its left hand door rusted to bits in a few months after the wingmirror was knocked off by kids.

Thats it, other than that I loved the car, it went, it was nippy and it was sort of comfortable, and I fitted my entire life into it and went back and forth to university digs in it.

Probably my first 126, it came from a so called reputable mechanic with a years MOT. However turned out to be a death trap as the front suspension had very serious rust under the underseal and many other instant MOT failiure points, oh and it kept dying! Eventually pursuaded him to take it back and refund me, which he did after I threatened his MOT station with the ministry of transport!!!

A Strada. Bought from an auction for £40 with a couple of months tax and test! Mind you, it was 8 years ago now I think about it. When I jacked it up to change the front wheel, the jack dissappeared into the bodywork and ended up through the passenger floor. Sold it to the scrappy for £35 a couple of months later.

Re: Worst FIAT (Have to laugh)

Well it was a Ritmo 85 S (Strada in the UK). Exhaust fell off for starters. So I wanted to check it out and pulled the handbrake. I ripped it OFF, and sat with it in my right hand... Hehe. Then clutch went to it´s eternal rest and I started the car in 1st gear and changed gears on engine speed and rev-ups when downgearing. Then a brake cylinder blew leading to almost no brake power all over - the 2nd system was destroyed. My father called the car "air conditioned" because of all the holes in the bodywork due to rust. I had to showel out water after heavy rain. It was actually a pond inside each footwell.

And as mentioned about the jack incident above - I jacked it up at a garage with a 4-point jack. The front window shattered and the car actually broke apart in it´s rusty weldings. Straight away to the scrapyard with emergency blinkers on

Edit: Forogt to mention: Fire in the fuse box! After some DIY soldering it worked again.

Morten.
