Right as most of you know i currently work in an internal IT department for a company and they have decided to outsource the IT to 1 of 3 companies.

now by law or something the new company has to take me on for at least 2 years with the same contract i have now.

my current company has also offered me to take up other jobs within the company but i have to come up with the new job role and get it approved. Which is a load of crap because they wont approve anything we come up with anyway.

so basically my options are to go to these new companies or leave. The thing that annoys me is the way they are doing it so secretly like not letting us come to the meetings with the new companies and making a decision who to chose without asking us can they do this? Also should i be offered redundancy if i chose not to join the new company?

Have been in the same position, i think you're entitled to a compromise agreement if you leave, believe this is tax free up to 30K

:eek:wahooo.

I will prob end up going to the new company TBH. Just found out which one it will most probably be and its a 15 min drive from me:D

but my comapny will not be able to cope with the way they work. they will have to ring a helpdesk of 30-50 people and then wait for them to get free time to log in remotely to resolve it.

the users dont even ring our internal helpdesk that has 1 bloke who everyone knows answering it.:ROFLMAO:

plus they wont be able to ring or email me direct or stop me when i am in the office.

I reckon 2-3 months before they get so annoyed with the new system that they try and hire us back to work for them direct and they can go swivel unless i get paid a hell of a lot more:)

you only get redundancy after 2 years service, and it is only 1 weeks wages for every year worked. an employer can choose to pay more but they dont have to.

there is no legal requiremement for the new company to hire you for 2 years, but if your current employer decides to hire someone to do your job within 2 years of you leaving then they must offer the position to you before they can hire someone else.

It also depends on ther terms/wording of your employment contract too - as Jug said, if you've been there for less than 2 years, basically you're stuffed - i'd take the move to the new company.

Good luck Mikeee

Id start looking for a new job as backup. You will get pushed asside in a merger in my opinion its happened to me more than once. No one cares about your future.

no i am 99% going to join the new company and then laugh when my old company cant cope and I have a cushty new job where i get lots of training:D

haha.

i got given 3 options and TBH i really cannot decide:

1) go to new company with my terms at the moment. I get paid more than the people i will be working with and my current employer is worried i will get made redundant.

2) take a pay cut and get paid the same as what they pay their current employees get paid.(£5,000 pay cut though). My employers think there is a lower risk of me getting makde redundant and said that if the new company did make me redundant then they would pay me the difference from what i would of been earning if i kept my current pay packet.

3) "resign" I will get given "something" I was told but If i was gonna leave i wouldnt really care about that bit of money. I have enough to last me a good few months.

was considering Uni but i only did the first year of sixth form(n) but i got told their is a course you can do (6 months) that will make me eligable for Uni.

they still havent told me what i would be doing within my new company which is what is annoying me. I dont think i can be doing with sitting on a helpdesk answering calls(n)

I would suggest you find out as much as possible about the new company quickly. If your current company would be using the new company as a supplier, then surely you would be uniquely valuable to the new company as you know how everything works? You could sell the deal to both sides.
