Technical Wobbly Clutch Pedal

I received a response from Fiat/Abarth CS regarding the dashboard and they say that it may not be possible to change the dashboard as it may lead to further problems  I'm 100% sure someone on the Abarth forum had theres replaced without any hassle...

Pfft. Tought tits as they say.

That'll be their problem, not yours ;)

I honestly think they're trying to fob me off with this.

If you asked me last week would I ever buy another Fiat/Abarth car, I would have asked if your mad!! Ask me now and I'd say NO!

Yeah think that might have been me,

Vospers in Plymouth changed my dash from the metallic grey finish, no ploblem at all, painted a new dash, and apparently it just clips in.

I can honestly say you cannot tell its been changed in the slightest, and I'm pretty fussy.

No scratches, rattles and a spot on finish, looks factory.

Just a thought... did you specify that it was ONLY the coloured panel that you wanted changing, not the whole dash? I'm not doubting you but with people contacting Fiat about the new xenon lights and getting very confused messages back, I wondered if Fiat have got the wrong end of the stick entirely and think you want the whole bloody dash replacing... which is obviously a whole different thing to what is essentially a clip on decor panel.

Try asking for this guy (had an apologetic email off him earlier)

...If you wish to speak to me personally or require any further assistance
then please feel free to contact the Fiat Information on 00800 3428 0000
between Monday to Saturday 9am - 6pm and I will be happy to assist you.

...I bet Fiat really hate this forum. Fellow Fiat owners sharing info and conspiring against them. How dare they! :ROFLMAO:

I explained in detail about the dashboard being the colour coded section. It's the dealers who are being arses really. I'm taking it down to them on Saturday anyway, so I'll insist it gets changed or I'll ram the car up there backsides!! lol

Thanks very much for that, I'll get in touch with him (y)

Its unique! Keep the different colour (and see what else you can get off them! lol) x

It does look unique, but I'm a bit of a perfectionist and Silver just doesn't work for me ;) Anyway, dropped it off today and was given a launch edition Abarth 500 as a courtesy car :D

Quick update:

The car is still at the dealers (Autoworld). Doubt I'll be picking it up this weekend as they are refusing to replace the drilled tailgate and dashboard

Managed to get in contact with someone quite big at Fiat, so hopefully something will be done.

I did suggest to the dealers that a straight swap for there demo/courtesy car (which I have at the moment) would suffice, as this has no dealer drilled holes, the dash is the correct colour and the clutch is 100% perfect. I would have thought this would be a cheaper option than to pay to have my tailgate and dash replaced.

One way or another, it'll get sorted ;)

That's the attitude I like to hear ;)

**UPDATE**

My car has had the clutch fixed (pedal snapped), dashboard replaced (wrong colour), alloy refurbed (due to it fading/pitting), side stripe fixed (it was peeling) and the tailgate will be replaced in the next 2 months.

All this is official confirmation from Abarth/Fiat HQ.

All in all I'm quite happy, just glad I have it confirmed now. Its been a stressful couple of weeks getting it all sorted, but I got there in the end, it did take some SERIOUS pestering though to get it all done

They are forwarding me some vouchers to cover costs of having to take a couple of days off work when it was broken, so least thats something.

Good stuff :) I did tell you that you'd get it sorted with persistence :)

I knew buying a Fiat was a bad move.

My clutch pedal sticks down slightly, it also seems make the other pedals move slightly too.

Cheap Polanski car I suppose. I will be out there this weekiend looking at it, in my mind I imagine it to be one rod going through all the pedals where they pivot, and that rod is sticking to the clutch pedal. That's what it feels like when you drive.

If you drive slowly it sometimes behaves itself perfectly, but as soon as you get heavy on the gas, it starts to stick.

Still, at least the first 250 miles were faultless.

Firstly the most reliable Fiats are made in Poland as opposed to Italy.

Secondly the Panda which is also built in Tychy has an excellent reputation for reliability compared to it's Western European built counterparts. If there is something wrong with your car then it could have happened on any other car

Thirdly..... the weld would have been done by a robot and not a person.

It might sound stupid and obvious, but if the mat is slightly too far forward it can have this effect. Probably not though, I had a Seicento where all the pedals moved as one. I was told that it was a feature. It would'nt really be a Fiat without plenty of "features".
