Technical Wobbly Clutch Pedal

Well dropped it off at Bauer & Millett today. Excellent customer service there, they got my car in straight away and within an hour they told me the problem, the clutch pedal is ruptured at the welded section  In other words it could just snap off at any time :eek:

I was advised it wasn't drivable so asked if they had any courtesy cars as I need a car for work and they said no, not until next Monday!! So I had no choice but to drive it home and coast on the motorway

Got it home safely and rang Fiat to see if they could arrange for a courtesy car to be delivered from a local Fiat dealer to my house, they said that a supervisor would contact me urgently......did I get a call back? Did I hell! I had to ring them and chase it up and still received no response

So I'm sat here with a broken car outside, a job that requires a car (because its over 25 miles away) and no courtesy car at all....and I'm paying £300 a month for this!!!

Rant over.

Si

not good. cant say i agree with you that they offered excellent customer service if they couldnt even provide you with a courtesy car for nearly a week!

we've got a good (generally reliable) car, but as others have said - welcome to fiat after-sales service, or lack thereof.

i live about 70miles away from my abarth dealer, and the thought of going through something similar to you if anything goes wrong was not very nice, hence me buying my own warranty so i can get it done by my local indy down the road if the time comes.

hope you get some joy from fiat cs soon :(

I should rephrase what I said into "they were very pleasant apart from not being able to supply me with a courtesy car" :) They seemed shocked as to how it had broke.

I have no choice at all but to drive it until Fiat get there fingers out and get me courtesy car, thing is most people get a car for minor issues - on mine the clutch pedal snapped at the weld! Whos saying the brake and accelerator pedal won't do the same!!

What level of cover do you get with the AA cover on your Abarth?

I have to say I'm rather shocked at the fact that you've not been given a courtesy car....

Assurance Cover.

They said it needs to be not drivable, on the report form he put "Driveable to the Dealer and recommend left with dealer" but obviously I can't do this as they have no courtesy cars!! lol He also put "broken weld on the clutch pedal" which obviously isn't serious enough to class as broken down  So annoyed with Fiat! Never thought I would doubt them so much, so early on with this car. You've seen how much I stick up for Fiat and Abarth on here, things are starting to change....

Quick update, the car is booked in with Autoworld in Chesterfield on Saturday, thing is its 70miles away :( So I'll have to use my broken Abarth for the next couple of days for work and then drive to Autoworld on Sat. On a positive I WILL have a courtesy car from Saturday being a Grande Punto.

Things are looking up a tiny bit I suppose, I'm just really peeved that Autoworld are not willing to swap my wrong coloured dash with the correct one  When I initially noticed it was the wrong colour I informed Jonathan at Autoworld and he told he it was meant to be silver, which I know it wasn't, after many emails to Abarth it was finally realised that I was right and it was meant to be Campovolo Grey to match the exterior as with every other 500

At that time I told Jonathan that I'll leave the dashboard for now as it doesn't justify the 70mile journey, now I have lots of problems with the car which need fixing so I mentioned the dashboard and he's not budging - even after all the hassle I've gone through this week!! Just shows how much Abarth dealers compare to normal Fiat dealers

Personally I would park the car in front of the doors to one of their ramps and refuse to move it until you are told that your car will be delivered as it was specified.

Don't worry ;) I plan on sorting this out tomorrow. I'll contact Fiat UK and get written confirmation from them that Autoworld WILL change the dashboard and go in on Saturday with the confirmation and shove it up there (Autoworlds) backside (y)

I'm also going to make an official complaint to Fiat about me having to use an unsafe vehicle after the car was inspected by one of there dealerships, who couldn't decide if it was safe or not!

This is shocking behaviour. This isn't you going back a few weeks later and saying "errr this scratch was on there when I got it! Honest!" it's a complete ****ing difference from the specification your ordered and the salesperson seems well aware of this.

Tosser is all I can say.....

Yep I agree 100% :D

I received a response from Fiat/Abarth CS regarding the dashboard and they say that it may not be possible to change the dashboard as it may lead to further problems  I'm 100% sure someone on the Abarth forum had theres replaced without any hassle...

I honestly think they're trying to fob me off with this.

If you asked me last week would I ever buy another Fiat/Abarth car, I would have asked if your mad!! Ask me now and I'd say NO!

All I can say is "LOL" Not a nasty LOL but a wtf LOL.

:p

It's just one of those things you have to laugh at....... it's as if the dash panel is integral to the structure of the car or something.

*shakes head*

Yep, goes to show how well trained/informed Fiat CS are  Thing is, this an Executive I've been in contact with

Customer Service Executive. IMHO that could be anyone in CS from a bottom feeder to someone who is merely 1 level above a bottom feeder. Personally I'd just do the "Can I speak to your boss" thing to anyone who doesn't give you any joy till you get someone who knows what they're talking about in your particular case :)

lol Cheers :)
I've worked in customer service for something silly like 5 years now and I know a thing or two about getting what I want (Gawd I sound like a woman......) when it comes to dealing with customer service types. The key is to be calm and reasonable and to always make demands slightly above and beyond what you'd settle for.

Personally what I'd be doing is going out and getting a quote for having the dash panel sprayed (because it can't be changed out right? ;) ) at a bodyshop of your choice , add 50% onto the price to make it a very unattractive proposition for them and then say that if they don't want to do this then you'll be contacting trading standards to point out the fact that the car you've been delivered is not what you've ordered.

All of a sudden when some Executive is thinking "Crap this is going to cost us a packet!!!!!" you'll get a call from your stealership saying "We've got a dash panel ready to fit to your car, come in whenever you want"
