Technical Wobbly Clutch Pedal

Turino, we have a problem... :(

I guess its good they seem to go slowly instead of breaking off with no warning..

The Driving school had his changed under warranty (as opposed to the clutch which went @ 12,000 & cost circa £700), although they took the whole day as opposed to the morning quoted (Desera, N. London), loosing him more money...

It's happened twice within 10 months and 8000 on the clock. This car has been a proper PITA (n) Going to try and get my car replaced, as I think theres something more sinister going on. Can't keep on getting it fixed and then breaking again, its too much hassle and can't be very safe.

It's not as if I drive it hard or anything - I don't even get the chance!! Anyway, I presume the clutch mechanism should be able to take a fair bit of pressure before it breaks.

Gutted :(

Quick update (I'm having Daja vu!):

Dropped the car off at Autoworld again this morn to have the clutch pedal mechanism replaced. I'll be picking it up next week and I've been given a standard Grande Punto Abarth, which I have to say is a fantastic car! Very impressed with the power and the way its handles, definitely a step up from the 500 in my opinion.

Autoworld have offered to replace my 500 with a used 500 as and when they get one in. However I am going to try and get it replaced with a Grande Punto Abarth I think. Although I love my 500, its just been a bad experience and the bad times out weigh the good times.

The one thing that peeves me is the way Abarth/Fiat UK have been about everything. Autoworld have actually been quite reasonable, but I have never received any apology or anything from Fiat themselves. It's been like they've been doing me a favor, even though its them who are at fault.

Hopefully if I do get a GPA, I won't have as much bad luck  :)

Thats fair enough, I hope you have better luck with it.

I think the worrying thing is, they seem to replacing faulty parts with identical ones that havent been redesigned to prevent it happening again.

Have they not worked out the pedal design needs upgrading?

:bang:

I know, its ridiculous. To me it's a serious problem, but Fiat/Abarth don't seem concerned that a major component has failed twice in a year!

They used the legal line to prevent me getting a Brand New car, so I'll have to stick with a used replacement. What gets me is car manufacturers replace cars due to cosmetic problems, but when it comes to serious safety issues they couldn't care less

My job here is done :p

I've had the GPA Esseesse before as a courtesy car and I loved that, never thought the standard GPA would be just as much fun! Really do love it(y)

Hi Sikersh, the MiTo i have at the moment is similar to the GPA, same power, same engine/gearbox so i should imagine it's fairly similar to drive to the GPA. I was quite impressed initially, pulls well thanks to the extra power/torque but still not quite as quick as the A500 imo. Like the smooth 6 speed though, best part! But now I've realised you can't push it as hard on bumpy roads or bendy roads, so now I'm starting to miss the A500! Maybe the GPA is just as good though as i think that has a different suspension setup.

I drove my A500 to Autoworld over Snakes Pass and drove the GPA back the same way, just to see the differences and the GPA is soooo much more comfortable to drive, it doesn't bounce at all. Feels much sharper turning into the corners and the power delivery is very, very good. The 6 speed box is brilliant as well! BUT I do love the A500 because it's just so much fun and always makes me smile :) when it doesn't break down anyway  lol

I understand, as others have said before, the GPA is more of a drivers car, more grown up, the A500 is more toy like, but still a very fun car! Personally though, i still prefer the cheeky looks of the A500 and i think it turns more heads (y)

No. As Maxi has said above its like that for a reason!

You're now risking injury in the event of a serious collission!
