Technical wiring issue

Hi guys and gals i have an issue with some wiring and am wondering if anyone could maybe help. The issue i have is in the boot i heard a clicking sound similar to a relay click and upon investigating i found it was from a set of contact plates specifically the ones that work the rear wiper and when i removed the contact plates i noticed that the black wire "ground"? it was burnt at the connector so i disconnected it and now i don't gave a rear wiper or demister and am now in need of some advice on how to solve this its a 96 1.6 16v sx brava. Thanks in advance for any help

Yeah my brava does this intermittently but I haven't investigated fully... maybe I| should!
