Wiring issue? License plate lights not working

Hi everyone,
Looking for some advice please - license plate bulbs not working, I have replaced them and through this site and other issues checked the wiring in the boot and I believe I may have found the issue - pic attached.

Everything else is working, all lights, boot key opening, light in boot etc the only thing that is not is thr license plate lights - both.

I am not sure if this wire is old and has been replaced or if it is one in use that is broken.

If this wire is in use would it being broken only effect the license plate lights and nothing else?

Mot due this week - is it possible to 'fuse' the wire back together or it is a much largerore expensive job?

Patch up the broken bit..
If it restored the 2 lights .. you know where to spend your money

(I did this with my door)

Got the window switchable for the 1st time since purchase in 2018

Yes broken earth wire in the hatch wires was the issue and its not the first time it's been fixed by the look of all the wires but All sorted thanks again
