Evening tech gurus

Having a little bit of an issue at the moment with the wireless network at home.

Basically, yesterday, lost the internet connection- 2 laptops were browsing the net, and the xbox was connected to live. All 3 suddenly lost connection to the internet, but remained connected to the network.

After faffing for a bit while on the phone to virgin, they have managed to get the internet connection back, but now none of the laptops, or my ipod or phone can connect to the router.

SSID is supposedly being broadcast by the router (so it says in the settings) but none of the laptops can find it, and neither can my phone!

I'm currently connect via an ethernet cable in one of the LAN ports on the router and it works fine like this (so can access router settings etc), but it just doesnt want to know on the wireless side!

I've tried connecting another router, and im having the same problem which has completely confused me, and ive reached the end of my networking knowledge!

Help ASAP will be very greatly appreciated!

hmm try hard resetting your router

also try removeing all traces of the wirless configuaration on the devices and try again to connect

Turn the router off then on again.

Goto the router setup page and make sure that SSID is being broadcast.

Check that the laptops (and Xbox) can see the wireless network.
If they can't double check that the router wireless is actually turned on! :D

We were having a similar problem with Sky's router, it was broadcasting but no-one could see it. There was a suggestion to change the SSID to anything else, the channel to 11 and the WPA key to a 9-letter word and it now works perfectly. Worth a try.

Can you post screenshots of your wifi config pages (with passwords blurred obviously) so we can see what your wifi config page looks like? I've never used the virgin device. Also, does it have a log section on the admin page. Trying connecting and see what pops up in the logs.
