This is the wire loom from the bottom of my none functioning 12v socket, I've put in a usb socket and connected to the same two wires as the socket I removed ... Everything's works until I turn the lights on then it stops working which I'm assuming is the same issue as the 12v socket ... But the colours of the wires do not match the information of the wiring diagram.

I'm hoping someone here maybe able to help identify live, ground and what ever the third wire would be

At a guess, the red tracer would be live, the black one earth, the gauge of these would suggest they're power supply, not sure what the thinner yellow one would be, normally it would be for illumination, but can't remember if the socket is illuminated, or is it?

That would make sense as I have the yellow as my ground which is what it was on the 12v and I'm m guessing it's grounded until I turn the lights on ... Looks like I'll be pulling the damn thing apart again ... 7 panels just be to get to that one ...grrrrrrr

Thanks for the help

A quick test with a multimeter would tell you? Even if the socket isn't illuminated, there is a wire connected to the lights as the optional cigarette lighter *is* illuminated. The socket will only have power if the ignition is on.
SugaComa Why was your original socket not working? Have you checked the fuse - if someone's plugged in something taking too much current the fuse will have blown. It is fuse F20, which is in the 'main' fusebox alongside the battery under the bonnet and rated 15amps.

All fuses all work , relay was fine it even charged devices on my way to work ... On my way home it refused to work ... So I bought a usb port swapped it out tested it with a multimeter had 13.xx Volts happy days ... Put the dash back together worked all weekend drove to work just fine drove home ... Didn't work ... Only thing different lights on when coming home ... So I have to assume what I thought was ground was in fact light wire which is grounded when not in use and live when lights go one killing the ground to socket ... I'll know for sure this weekend

Big thank you ... You were right on the money with this ... Swapped my negative from the yellow to the black violet and I now have power when ignition on and no longer turns off when lights come on ...would never have connected those dots with out your help
