Technical Wiper blade mystery...

Following the joyous pass of the MoT test by Mrs Disgusted's Loser-Cruiser, my Senior Engineer (promoted from mere "Mechanic" in light of his recent efforts) is servicing the vehicle on Wednesday.

Popped into Euro Car Parts this AM on the way to work to collect oil & filters.

Before I went, I measured the front wiper blades. They are both 22". They need replacing.

The Euro Car Parts man says that I need a 24" on the Driver's side and a 21" or 22" on the passenger side.

What do you think? What sizes are you using?

ALSO:

Is anyone using the new "flat blade" alternative? They're about 25% more expensive, but supposedly superior...

The Aero Flat blades give a much better wipe with less smearing.

I love them. Best change I ever made to the Punto. The fact many new cars are coming fitted with them as standard speaks volumes!!

Reminds me...I need to replace mine!!

You can get cheap ones...of varying quality.
Tesco used to do reasonable quality aero flats for about 7 or 8 quid. Asda 4 quid specials are crap lol

Its deffo a 24” on drivers..but can remember the passenger side...
Plus the halfords ones I bought don't fit properly as they need a notch cutting out where the arm support holds the wiper..

24" (drivers side) and 22" Bosch Aero - the 'floppy' conversion type - fit almost perfectly end-to-end on my '04 roundnose when they're in the parked position. They've lasted pretty well too.

I have my local motor factors budget ones on mine and after removing the bit on the drivers arm which kept fouling the blade and making it screech and vibrate, they are loads better than the old style Bosch ones that were on. They are 24 and 22 inches too.

Cheers

James

I've only ever bought refills for any car I've had in the last 10 years or so, sod paying for the frames as well, when only the blade itself is worn (n)

I bought a set of Bosch wipers. Firstly why did this not include a rear wiper? It did with my Mondeo!

The most annoying thing is the new blades keep popping out of the retaining clip on the drivers side. Considering the Bosch ones cost more I'm a bit annoyed. Tried refitting and everything but I have had to resort to a cable tie to cure it.(n)

Defo spec says 24 and 22 inch. Its not necessary really. I ran last year with two 20 inch blades and no perceptible difference or vision impairment. 6 quid from Asda, I think. Lasted about a year.

I have just replaced them with two 22 inch blades from Tesco. 4 quid each. They move water out of the way. What more can I say!? Lol.
