hi guys,
need your help. turned on the pc today and got an error message come up during the start up screen on xp, it says

----------------------------------------------------------------------
windows could not start because the following file was missing or corrupt:
c:\windows\system32\config\system

you can attempt to repair theis file by starting windows setup using the setup cd-rom.
Select "r" at the first screen to start repair
----------------------------------------------------------------------
can any one tell me how i can copy the file over from the windows cd to my pc's HDD using the repair facility

Cheers(y)

TBH you should only use the repair console if you know what you're doing.

you have to use dos commands to rename the file and copy over a new file.

Help file is available at MS site but not always workable.
