Didn't it come with any CD's? If not you may need to restore from an image stored in a hidden part of your hard drive. This will most likely lose any work stored. Hope you have backups or someone who can copy your files off the hard drive.

Hellcat said:F8 at startup.. just keep pressing it. Choose safemode and check that you havn't installed anything recently.

Other than that reformat. Some windows problems are just too complicated.

some copies of xp pro still allow access to the windows update service,allegedlyT14086 said:If you buy a copy you will not be able to download the crucial XP updates (trust me I found this out) anyway i'm no expert on PC's but I have had similar troubles like this, once was the RAM which I cleaned the contacts the other was a hard drive power cable loose,in both circumstances XP never booted up & used to restart sometimes but only somtimes. In the end I just got a new PC,need my daily fix of ebay & FF

Good luck with that
