Windows 8 Ordered

Have you tried just leaving it booted and left 'online' for a day (disable standby) I know Windows 8 has some pretty extensive 'indexing' functions which on a new install thrash the living hell out of your drive until all your stuff including all your hidden porn stashes is indexed...

Makes me glad I've got Dual OCZ SSD's in RAID 0 :slayer: 800mb/s Read and 650-750mb/s write FTW...

Done a complete fresh install of windows 8 nothing to interfere and cause issues and all the same problems remain, all of the problems I encountered where searchable on the Internet with reams of text dedicated to people trying to find solutions, ultimately though my laptop was just completely unstable leaving only one option return to windows 7.. A half hour later and low and behold the laptop was working perfectly, stable and fresh.

Lesson learnt windows 8 is a huge pile of crap and I can honestly say I've never known a Microsoft operating system to be so unstable following upgrade, I also discovered other issues like the complete lack of DVD playing software and stupid web browser selection app which crashes and leaves you unable to install any web browser.

Its a big shame as I really like Microsoft and the easy availability of software apple doesn't have quite the same support software wise. Which is why most of my 'creative' stuff gets done in windows and not on our iMac

All in all couldn't recommend against windows 8 it enough.... Time to visit the apple store for that MacBook I've been lusting after..... Nah I'd miss windows.

Can't come up with anything concrete as I've no idea what your creative stuff entails, but there are at least 2 other mainstream OSes out there to play with.............

Windows 8 may really suck on a PC I really couldn't tell you since I haven't tried it, however it rocks on a phone. I have a windows 8 HTC and it simply blows anything else I've had out the water. Funny enough my PC still runs Vista 64, which, since they ironed all the buggs out works absolutely perfect and will run anything designed for windows 7 (it's pretty much the same thing).

So if it sucks on a PC now it will probably get better. The problem with software now is they seem to think the general public should pay full price to be a beta tester. It has been way too easy to repair software issues since the implementation of high speed internet, and they take advantage of this. Also windows will always have more issues than Apple simply due to the almost infinite amount of hardware variations it has to run on.

I'm not making excuses for them by any means. It really seems W8 shines on small touch screen devices and simply not enough effort has been made to support desktop computer use.

:p had a Packard bell back in the day with ME never had any problems with it, and still have a Sony Vaio with vista installed which I used for years again with not real problem but then both of those computers were designed to run with those operating systems.

Interestingly Microsoft have apologised and said I can have a full refund (y)
