General Why Minis will will be more profitable than 500s

I tried AC Paisley to buy my 500, they hadn't a clue.

I bought mine from Parks, the 500 specialist was very good, and the sales manager was there when the 500 guy was off.

No complaints

Was considering an AbarthSS so, yup, Springburn is the Abarth dealership. Still waiting for a test drive, 6 months after being promised a call. I called three times, never got a reply, no sale, I'll keep my money thanks.

Cheers

SPD

I've ordered mine from Park's EK. How did they fix the rear numberplate?

If you're so worried about it, just call them up and tell them that you want the numberplate mounted through the 4 holes provided and you don't want the tailgate drilled.

I was incredibly disappointed with the service i received, my list of complaints is endless,

Is it usual for them to stick a brand new car through a carwash before the new owner collects it? i dont put my cars through a carwash so why should they? (i have a boyfriend who strangely enjoys washing cars) the inside had dust and oil marks on the cream interior. I bought a clio brand new and that was immaculate when i collected it, not a drip of wax has ever been near my car.

The salesman was rude and got his assistant who wasn't very knowledgeable to do all his donkey work, i had to come and do the paperwork i was told by another rude salesperson that i had to wait my turn and her customers were next into see the business manager even though he told us to come in.

I had to chase them and they never returned my calls

When i eventually collected the car it was missing the chrome wing mirrors that i had ordered 9 weeks previously, so they had 9 weeks notice i wanted them!

When i suggested that they gave me the mats as a sweetener to keep me happy they refused as they dont give anything free with scrappage scheme deals... funny that my step mum has one too and she got free mats with hers!

They were all sweetness and light then I felt like i was doing them a favor by buying off them and after i had given my deposit and signed on the dotted line they lost complete interest!

I now live in Surrey but i used to live very close to Mangoletsi's in Cheshire and i know lots of the salesmen but they lost the Franchise to concentrate of Alfa's i really wish i had bought from there!

I have written a long letter of complaint to Fiat UK so i am waiting there response in due course!

Im happy to say that the service I recieved when I went to look and order my car was brill.
I guess I have the added bonus that I work in the petrol station across the road from the dealership so I get the chance to see the salesmen/saleswomen everyday and have a friendly chat with them.
I felt well looked after and they salesmen knew his stuff. He got me the finance that was right for me and contacts me when he said he would. I havent had a problem yet. I can not fault the service I have been recieveing so far.

I don't really see the problem other than with the sales person and the carwash though most won't have a problem with that.

Dirty ivory interior? You should have known it was going to get dirty....

Salespeople are busy. When I was dealing with my salesperson he told me to come in later one evening but was busy and asked if I could come back at another time. Sometimes **** happens, deal with it.

Chrome mirrors. They may have put chrome mirrors on the order form and the factory just didn't put then on. Whether or not you waited 300 months is beside the point, a mistake was made and rather than complaining you could just let them rectify it which is easy and be done with it.

Demanding that they give you something free is always going to get an interesting reaction. The time for asking for extra's is when you're ordering. As far as anyone is concerned when you've paid for the car there's no incentive to give you something extra for free that's going to cost them.

As for losing interest what do you expect them to do? Send you one of those cheesy American motivational speakers who sounds annoyingly enthusiastic. Here's how it goes.....

1) You walk into the dealer and order
2) Dealer places order
3) Car gets built
4) Car arrives in UK - Dealer usually contacts customer
5) Dealer gets car and gives it to you.

You've got to remember that you're the one buying the car and you're the one who's excited about it, the dealer is merely the facilitator in all of this and it's difficult to be excited and interested in someone else getting something at the best of times but when it's your job day in day out you'll excuse them for not being all enthusiastic and chirpy.

IMHO you're being picky. We all go through a period where we're waiting and seemingly nothing is happening and the dealer bears the brunt of this frustration but step back for a second and you'll see that you're being unreasonable.

Arnold Clark - Paisley (Rude)
Arnold Clark - Springburn (Clueless - think this might also be the Abarth dealer, not sure)
Bickets Kilmarnock - Pleasant, facilitating but little knowledge of the car - misquoted key 'facts'
Parks, East Kilbride - patronising and not much knowledge

Paisley - the sales guys didn't seem that interested. Full stop!
Springburn - had a couple of bits done there now, but after it took them well over an hour with the daytime lights and figuring out how to replace the bulb, I don't think I'll go back again (n).
Alison Street - first time I visisted the salesman was rubbish, didn't know anything about the models, didn't give me a trade in price, etc. Went back a few weeks later and spoke to another guy. More helpful, quick test drive but once signed on the line, next to useless.

I've heard a couple of decent stories about Parks and encouraged to hear that they have a 500 'specialist' so will give them a try next. Either that or Morrisons in Stirling - an independent family run dealership but also do Landrover etc.

On the plus side, good to hear of a few other forum members based around Glasgow (y).

Well i have bought brand new cars before and always had a brilliant service, my Dad used to own a Nissan dealership and even he was shocked, manners cost nothing and as for the oily marks if i put them on then thats fine but you wouldnt be impressed if you bought a jumper with a big oily mark on it would you? I certainly wont be going back to that dealership if i choose to buy another Fiat. The car was ordered from stock that was already built and i was told the car was going to be 4-5 weeks not 9 weeks, and so the mirrors were dealer fitted not factory.

Unreasonable to expect decent customer service and for staff to have a reasonable knowledge of the products they sell? Surely the dealers should be remembering as well that the purchase of a car is a big deal for most people. The 500 sells in no small part due to its character and the fact it can make you smile. Is it really too much to ask that the dealership tries to replicate that effect in some small way?

Well the dealer forgot to fit them. Get them to fit them and it's sorted.

So if someone walks in and buys a Panda they should be treated in a cheap and cheerful but utilitarian manner? Meh, no disrespect to the salesperson I dealt with but really he was just the guy who took my order and sorted my finance out. I didn't expect sexual favours or someone being overly enthusiastic or whatever. At the end of the day the product matters and anything else is just words.

I aggree. You just don't get that level of poor service with most other brands of car. Next time you go to your dealer, why not vandalise their toilets by flushing down a pile of brochures?

Thats just being silly. If you're buying a Panda then of course it's totally different. The salesperson should be putting on a giant Panda costume and getting his manager to role the video camera while the two of you get it on to some Barry White in the background .

Seriously though, it doesn't matter the car. Kia Picanto, Fiat 500, BMW 5 series, whatever - product knowledge, good service and a well presented vehicle at hand over is the very least we should expect as consumers and shouldn't be seen as unreasonable or unrealistic.

Good idea. Although my dealer doesn't have any brochures for the 500. Will Punto or Bravo ones do instead ?
