I'm a firm believer in personal space and an MP3 player is a great way of establishing that on a plane ;)

I'm going to stick up for my dealer here, and please trust me, I'm a stickler for customer service.

I ordered my 500c from Vospers in Truro at the beginning of May. Right from the day I walked in the place the salesman that I dealt with, Chris and the branch manager, Julian were fantastic in terms of customer service as well as being as knowledgeable as was possible about the product, considering that neither of them had even clapped eyes on one yet.

For the first two months I had fortnightly updates from Chris and then they became weekly to keep me up to speed with what was happening.

Two days before pick up I had a bit of a kerfuffle with my finance, nothing major, but it meant that I had to delay the dealers by two days before I could pick it up. They were more than understanding and exceptionally patient with me.

On the day I picked it up, even although the dealership was as busy as hell that day, Chris took the time to explain all the controls etc and pair my phone up for me. Not only did they give me free mats but they also phoned me on the Monday to say that they'd ordered me an i-Pod cable and there would be no charge for that either.

So, 10/10 for Vospers in Truro, I've got absolutely no hesitation in recommending them............., and I love my car :)

Well, my last 2 FIAT purchases haven't exactly been great on the knowledge front from the sales people.

To be fair, when I bought the Bravo the salesman was up front and said that customers tend to know the ins and outs of the cars better than he does because they have seriously researched that model before going in. It's still no real excuse though.

The first Bravo i looked at in Edinburgh Gorgie the guy told me it had dual zone climate control when it quite obviously had the bog standard 'air con', said it was the new 165 MJ when it had 150 on the wing. Seriously bad to the point I travelled to fife to get the car in the end. But Edinburgh gorgie has always been pretty tragic.

When I ordered the Abarth the car I took out for a drive had the 17" petal alloys and the guy said those are what I would get although I had ordered the base model which has 16" alloys. Must stress that wasn't John at Abarth Springburn but someone who was filling in for him. Still a poor show though. No one seems to register the 18000 mile service schedule either.

These guys do work very long and unsociable working hours though and I do feel sympathy for them as my hours/days aren't exactly pub friendly. At the end of the day though, I make a point of knowing what I'm talking about and customer service is huge to me as I produce wedding films. I think a new car and a wedding film are on a par regards expectation levels though and I feel FIAT dealerships are lacking somewhat in what should be basic knowledge.

I would love to do sales part time in a FIAT dealership though.....I truly believe I'd kick ass at it.

I bought my car from arnold clark (abarth) glasgow. I must say the salesman was pretty good from start to finish. We walked in of the street and were given a test drive straight away and promptly purchased.
I was kept informed for the following week regarding the progress of the car as i bought from new stock.
When I picked the car up it hadnt been washed but to be fair was not to upsetting, it was raining and i was going to northern scotland for the weekend to test the car out, so i knew id give it a good wash on my return.
I must admit im very wary of carsales people, the dealer even commented that i wouldnt trust my own gran... which is probably true. But if you give most dealers an inch they ll take a mile, in my opinion it pays to be "on yer game" when dealing with sales people....
Fiat dealers arent so bad.
I wouldnt trust Audi with my pushbike, they crashed my TT whilst it was in for service, repaired it and "forgot" to mention it
