General why buy a multipla

General why buy a multipla

Perhaps if Fiat had put in a 2ltr engine instead of the 1.6, after all she is quite a large lump to move)

Fiat have the 1.8 130 hp 16 valve engine, I think that would suit the multi great ! Light and strong.

The 2.0 liter engine came with five cylinders 147 hp, two wide for the already cramped engine compartment.

I had a petrol for a while and it went fine. You can get 30mpg running around but try not to get into traffic or push hard on the A-roads. Best was a 36mpg over a 200mile trip but keeping to 60-65ish. Diesel will be ultimately faster and more economical for both fuel and road tax.

I am starting to think about another multi and would prefer the diesel as I will be blasting across Europe a few times in it but then again a petrol with LPG might be a goer if the right car comes up at the right price.

There is a huge amount of space under the floor designed for the tanks, Fiat fitted both LPG and CNG gas tanks here as standard.

Ride quality is pretty pants to be honest. And that's about the only criticism really. I keep threatening to sell it but it's so damn handy I know I'd regret it. It handles better than any other MPV I have ever driven, and the practicalities of it are a massive advantage.

Interesting to see comments about the boot being too small. As someone said it all depends on what you want. The thing we (it's my wife's car really) love about the Multipla is that it carries six adults with luggage, without a roof box. We've always found the boot, like the rest of the car in fact, cavernous.

More than once we've driven to an airport in the Multipla with six people and luggage. Landed at the other end and couldn't get all the luggage AND people in the hire car. Have been caught out with Galaxy/Sharan and Zafira.

Have got the 1.6 petrol and it is slightly under powered, but overall its been very reliable since we bought it new in 2001.

If it died tomorrow, my wife and family would all vote to buy another. As it is it just passed it's MOT with flying colours yesterday:)
