Hi everyone!

My love affair with the ugly bug ball shall continue - provided that everything goes to plan.
I had initially envisioned to find an old engine to do a swap, but it ultimately turned out to be a rather difficult enterprise. Finding a used Multipla with lower mileage than mine (which is actually past 411.000 km) proved to be easier.

Seller was super nice and solved some minor issues, like new brackets, new ABS pump, new car keys.

I now have to make up my mind about what to do with my old car. It will be scrapped, that is for sure, but I'd like to cannibalize it, at least to a certain extent:

1.Gearbox (refurb unit fitted 1 year ago, I really don't like the idea of giving it to the scrapper)

2.What else? Dashboard plastics maybe, the ones more prone to wear and tear? Are there any tutorials on how to remove them without causing too much mayhem?

3.Other? I am open to input.

Thankis in advance and happy motoring on our multiplas!

Hello, I know your post was a while ago, do you still have the gearbox and clutch and is it a 105 JTD (mine is from 1999 and the synchro cones are worn) ?
I am in France
All the best, Mike

Updating a bit here -

In the end, I'll be able to save for future use as spare parts:

-Gearbox
-all the inner plastic panels
-Headlights
-Airfilter box
-LH inner wheel cover
-Radio

Still making up my mind about some other stuff

Hello Mauro,
Would you consider selling your gearbox ? I have a 1998 Mk 1 105 JTD and the synchromesh is Very "tired". We are in France, so it is inside the EU.

Hello Michael,

unfortunately not - the multipla I bought has the same issue as yours, I made the purchase because I counted on having a donor vehicle for some stuff (gearbox included, which I bought a year ago - I have had very bad luck with my first Multipla with reference to gearboxes, I broke two...)

Ahahahaha
Wow! Are you an angry guy, Mauro?! 😁
(and please, don't get angry on me for asking)
I wouldn't consider myself that! But, I was at the wheel, hence...I must have been the one responsible for the failures! :ROFLMAO: Seriously though, I had lots of luck both times...the gearbox broke while doing 140 Km/h on the highway, and in both cases I was able to slow down, switch lanes and pull over.
