General why are they so cheap??

I used to have a top of the range fully loaded VW Passat 150bhp TDi. Superb car, best I have ever owned. But it cost me a fortune, which was fine when I had a well-paid job before the "credit crunch"... but I couldn't justify that sort of spend now - £200 a month more than my Stilo of the same age when you factor in finance, depreciation, servicing etc. In fact, new it cost me over 10k for a four year old car, compared with less than 3k for a six year old stilo with similar relative mileage.

You have Just summed up exactly what a lot of non Stilo owners dont understand. They really are a love them or hate them car. People think im crazy spending £2k on fixing the engine.

Well I meant the cars but the owners must be aswell

They are like marmite, love em or hate em, I love em, such a lot of car for the money esp with all the optional extras, its just annoying that a lot of them have so many issues, but I would pay that to repair one if the car itself was worth doing.
