Whos your Internet Provider?

We're with BT
8mb with a 40gb montly allowance (haven't even got close yet, i think last month i hit about 9gb or something)
dunno how much we're paying as it's with the VOIP phone and also goes in with the phone line. i think it's something like £30 a month with the line rental and all, but i can't be 100% sure

Im with eclipse it only cost about £15 per month and you get 8 meg with unlimited downloads if you want wireless they also give you a free rooter try them

In their Terms and Conditions there is a statement about fair usage but I've never heard of it being enforced.

it isn't enforced by any supplier, even if you have a download limit they will never say or do anything if you go over. i've never heard of single case where an isp has done anything except in extreme cases when the user was suspected of downloading loads of pirate dvds (police have even been informed of this in the past).

I was with PLUS.net, and have got near their peak time limits in the past - they have always sent me an email to tell me that limits will be enforced if I continue, although I have never pushed it. I just schedule my bandwidth usage to offpeak times.

I am now on the 8Mb Demon Home service - no complaints so far.

twang.net
£30pm
unlimited account

excellent customer services not many people use then so very quick service and they dont block any ports or throttle bandwidth when trying to do certain things.

Yeah I have the same, the BTHome hub and the Softphone is absolutely great. It means we have 2 separate phone lines to use: our normal land line, and the Broadband line. And it doesn't matter which number people ring as both phones will ring! I do get 7-7.5 MB 90% of the time as far as speed goes. I am paying £26.99 pm (Well I will do when the 6month promo finishes (y) )

I must say that BT has given great service over the years we have had internet with them. And although they are more expensive than the rest (OFCOM are forcing them to not drop their prices at the moment in order to create market competition), they have given solid service and backup 24/7. In all the time I have had BT, we were left with no internet only the once for about 4 hours late one night, because someone crashed their car into some exchange hub box thing.

I would reccommend them over anyone else.

Friends of mine have the homehub system, plus a girl at work is about to get it - although for me, 40Gb pcm is way too restricting, although not sure how good they are at enforcing it.

I have exceeded this quite regularly for some time now, and they have yet to say anything. When I once asked the tech dept about this a while back, as I was worried, they say they rarely enforce it unless you exceed your monthly usage on a weekly basis. ie 40gb every week would not be accpetable. Then all they would initally do is write to you, or call you, toadvise you are using over the allowed limit, and if you do it regularly they will suggest alternatives to consider.

These past few months (6 or 7) I have been hovering around the 30-60gb per month mark, and no one from BT has said or done anything yet.

well i regualarly go over my on peak limit (dunno how, i cant DL that much :chin: )

and all they do is stop me accessing p2p networks until the month is through

its odd, i had an even smaller limit with my old supplier, but i downloaded heaps more :(

also, since ive switched im having a heck of a prob with p2p, its running dead slow and has probs connecting even when im within my limit
