got the ball moving again now as garage door is back on and a new improved security one apparently (******). got manifold off again seperated and removed warped studs, grounded divider out from inside manifold as i know these have a tendancy of exploding and causing catastrophes and alsp flattened flange at the back of the turbo, sent off with a mate now to be machined and re-studded. going to go with an ebc clutch for the time being untill money suffices for a bigger/better one and also wing is painted and repaired have a few pics of that :p

Gaz

righty cars pretty much back together now

(preety much bar towing eye needs to be removed for oil cooler)

had some problems when re-fitting my low temp thermostat though... fiat gasket for the thermostat seems to be absolute toss so it was leaking so had to bung a load of my good old friend instant gasket around it. anyone else had problems with this?

also got replacement windscreen in as my brand new one got smashed when garage got broken into..

and what everyone who gets a mag feature should do a feature wall

Scuse the wonking

gonna put ebc fast road clutch in during the week or when he's back home cant decide, then need to adjust standard fuel pressure regulator then preety much ready for rr then mot time

T'was in fast car few months back, a search should bring up the thread..

I also need to adjust standard fuel pressure reg, having just got my new pump and regulator in. I can see how it is adjusted but thats not whats confusing me, how do to you set it? do i need to get a guage in there after the regulator (on the return pipe) and measure it from there? and what should it be set at, and does it need setting on boost of on idle?? Mines running fine as is too so is there any reason to adjust it or not? been told i do but not seeing why if it runs nice.... opinions

To adjust the regulator you need a fuel pressure gauge up stream of the regulator as it only pressurises the fuel before the regulator not after it. If you put the gauge on after the regulator it will measure the pressure at the standard regulator in the throttle body if you have fitted it all as on the diagram I sent you. The standard reg can be changed as well i suggest checking its running at 1.2-1.4bar as standard they run anywhere between 0.8bar-1.2bar, if its at lower end the car will get no fuel on boost.

You need to remove the vacuum hose from the regulator and i would suggest setting the regulator to 2.5bar on idle. With this set up as the regulator senses vacuum when on boost it raises pressure in response to this.

Aaron.

Well i followed your diagram, i put the new pump in and set it with the vaccum off to run 2.5 bar then connected the vaccum up. So that works as you say and raises up when boost comes in so thats all good. Just this other bit.

So what your saying is i need to get another guage in there temporarily to measure pressure between the regulator and the fuel inlet on the TB then turn the screw to adjust accordingly? is that right? Sorry i'm still learning how this mad fuelling works on these cars.

I forgot you had the reg with inbuilt gauge.

TBH checking the reg on the throttle body is just a precaution to ensure its not running at the lower end of the scale that they come set up with from factory as if its sitting at 0.8bar then once the boost reaches 0.8bar well it equals no pressure on the fuel, but as your car has been running for some time i would envisage that its all ok now.

Jamie said that your car is running a lot better now since the new pump and reg went on.

lol ta gain aaron i know you've explained it to me many a times just havent bloody got round to doing it lol need to get myself a removable gauge to set the standard pressure though any suggestions?

Yeah, it runs a dream now but MOT has run out so not had chance to play with it much.. Needs slam panel changing after the little bump, its not that bad but the N/S headlight is off and won't pass MOT. Got the panels just need the money to get it fitted now. Might have a stab at it myself but i can't weld so would need to find a friendly welder to pop over..
