MF2 being fried wouldnt have any affect on the std engine management though am i right in thinking aaron? because when it was going on boost the engine management light came on which led me to think the ecu was seeing positive boost on the map sensor...

I don't think so because the MF2 is stand alone and in no way connected to ECU, but as you say sounds like ECU was seeing positive boost and not liking it.

As you car is down that way it may be worth while trying your know to work components to try and rule out what it may be.

When it was al wired in did you copy the way yours is wired?

Just nick the bits of Ghost's car, its cream crackered anyway:D

right on a plus note oil cooler is on and no leaks after getting it ally welded need to trim pipes a bit more tho(dam you si). but now have a permanent injection light and mf2 has totally stopped working.. im thinking its new fcd and mf2 time so gonna have to skank lifts while get this sorted. :(

alex is horrible and wont let me test his parts even though im giving him a 37k fire engine for free how horrid is that :p (joking btw alex, i wont go and rip it apart tomorow honest :D)

Was going to add, that intercooler does not look secure, is should be mounted through the bottom of the slam panel and you should not be able to move it back and forth.

If it turns out that the MF2 and FCd are fecked, then you are looking at over £300 to replce and in that territory you may give consideration to stand alone ECU that does all functions though that would be better with MPi setup, or even a dastek unichip as this has inbuilt map sensor, boost control and fuelling amongst other stuff, I know that this is used to run the 2 additional injectors on Rotrex supercharged 180bhp Ignis conversions in Asia, so sure it could be used with a Cinq turbo and may have more functionality to it than the MF2/FCD setup.

http://www.dastek.co.uk/features_unichip.htm

This is lifted direct from the site for functions;

Variable valve timing adjustment
Rev limit adjustment
Boost limit & level adjustment
Dual maps for use with different fuel grades & types
Water Injection
Nitrous oxide progressive injection
Bigger/supplementary injector handling
Variable induction control
Launch control for turbo vehicles
Full throttle gear changes
Road speed limiter removal
Speedo conversion for imports
Shift light
Idle speed stabilisation

If i had known about this before when mine melted I think I would have explored it more.

Let gaz do all the wiring, i hate the stuff (wiring that is)

Lol! :p well MF2 is a different one, but overall i dont want to start messing with electrics as if my car doesnt work after the rebuild then i dont want to add more things to be possibly at fault etc
id say change the FCD first then if its still not working get a new mf2

remember to have the FCD on a switched live not perminant or else when you alter the dial it wont change untill power is cut from it (thats the mistake i made on mine)

gaz

We hadnt tried altering the dial at all yet so not sure if this is something we need to play with

Gaz just thought btw... (Whiley gaz) if the MF2 was getting power and now isnt then surely its going to be a electrical thing, and as well were your acc light switch bits always on before you wired in the MF2 and things as maybe thats where the power is going to instead of the FCD or MF2...

right whats the best live switches near the ecu and inside the car im gonna try sort this tomorow lunch time thinking inside car stereo live but not sure for fcd(near ecu)

have you soldered the FCD into the ecu clip? yellow and red wire (middle map wire) it should have one comming from ecu going into the FCD then one comming out of the FCD to the cars standard map sensor which is the middle wire.

also switched ignition live feed i got from a wire off the fuel relay as it was close to the ecu. think it was the orange wire in there but not 100% sure till i flip my bonnet open but seicento wires aredifferent colours.

gaz

surely theres an switch live coming from the ecu isnt there (orange and black?) and any ideas anyone what colour the switch live from the ignition is.

right fcd is wired in earthed and wired to a switch live on the fuell pump relay(orange wire) no joy still see's boost and adjustment screw just continuously turns in either direction. getting no revs through the mf2, it is wired into the red connecter block on the back of the instrument binacle and tryed both of the wires that fluctuate whn engine is revved. does this sound like my mf2 and fcd is dud to any of you turbo boys?

I think you should look at this for MF2 stuff http://www.turbobits.co.uk/acatalog/erl_aquamist_manuals.html

The MF2 should be wired into ignition, I had mine all wired behind instrument binnacle as you also need the rev counter tap from there anyway. It is worth while changing the MF2 to think the car is 3 cylinder, there is a red connector that is movable from 2-8 cylinders this gives fuel adjustment ever 800rpm IIRC rather than every 1000rom, though the transition between them is seamless.

If the FCD is a VAD one its a massive 24turns from full in to full out so turning it l a few times has next to no difference on it, you need to put a volt meter across it until you receive a reading of 1.4V under load, so having someone to help blip the accelerator while setting up is a helpthough not 100% sure I did have a print out from VAD on how to set up, maybe Fingers has it in the history file.

HTH

Aaron.
