Clarification..

Hi,

Despite Nige's very good site, I was also looking for the cable in the boot.. It took me some time to find a text reference some where that states where exactly it comes out in the boot.

So, Nige, it might be good with a clarification on your /ICE page, as this seems to be one of those very frequently asked questions here?

Anyway, for those reading this, the cable can be found behind the felt between the left rear speaker and rear light. It's wrapped in some grey foam.

Ove

Give us a hand then!

From the guide...

How To Fit A CD Changer

MK1

The cable is already in the boot hanging down from either the left or right hand side under the parcel shelf supports. Unwrap it from the grey foam ....

How else would you describe it to make it easier to find?

Right

The reason why I couldn't find it at first, was that the cable was hidden away well behind the felt inside the boot.
At first, I couldn't find anything, but after getting the directions from your page, I started looking more closely.. I found a loop of the cable, but I wasn't sure it was the right one, so I didn't want to just pull it, in case I would disconnect something.
So anyway, after taking loosening the plastic covering around the rear light, and managing to pull a good deal of the felt back, I could finally see the end of the cable and the grey foam.. "Bingo, thats the cable." :)

So, all I was saying about your excellent page, was that maybe it would be good to tell that the cable might be hidden well behind the felt?

I found the cable in the left side of the boot, but from your text, it sounds like it might also be found in the right side in some cars?

Cheers,
Ove

Re: Right

Yup, it could be, Ive seen both! You can never take into consideration what the previous owners have done to tuck it away, so I cant out everything on. I do hear what your saying tho!!
