Where do I put the engine oil?

I'm a total muppet I know but nothing makes sense when I look under the bonnet of my Punto and the Mr is having a strop and refusing to help me and I'm not bloody asking him.
Where do I put the oil in my engine for my Punto ELX 1.2? Its a Y plate.
Is it that black square rubber stopper in the top?

Yarp. He is. So where does it go? I've topped up my brake fluid with screenwash before and don't want to make another cock up.

You were right - it goes in where the square-ish black stopper is on the aluminium top cam cover of the engine.

The oil comes out of the 12mm-recessed-hex (Allen key) drain plug at the back edge of the sump, under the car. Be prepared for the oil to come pouring out at a 45-degree angle. It also pours down the front when you unscrew the oil filter. I use an oil filter wrench that is basically a metal strap with a handle - the strap hooks into the handle and tightens as you push the handle to unscrew the filter.

I always take out the rubber sealing ring on the new filter and coat both sides thinly with oil. Make sure the sealing ring from the old filter is not left behind on the mounting platform.

Sorry I've just noticed the subject of the thread: "where do I put the engine oil", not "where do I out the engine oil" - I thought you were asking about getting the engine oil out!

I did type it in wrong to start with. Sorry. But thanks for the instructions anyway Just needed to top up my engine oil really. He finally came out of his cave about 11pm lastnight and helped me out. All I needed was to know if the black stopper was the right place. And it was. But it didn't need any oil anyway. Was just a dodgy Fiat electric. :bang:
