@ TAFI, not anymore but I do have a "Starsky" Cardigan on the way ready for the next time I go to the Carwash Night in London. :) !

@ Rob, Jackie? Dig 'em out for us mate. Perfect opportunity to show the old man in his '80s tragedy pants! :)

80's fashion?

Not noticed its slowly coming back? Yes, I have now resorted to my mullet again. A night out anywhere nowadays and you will notice all the young ladies waering ra-ra skirts with t-shirts and huge plastic hooped earings. A night out suddenly reminds you of Rita, Sue and Bob Too!

Sue was a babe, or was it Rita...the Blonde one, this is great i'm so gald i started it now, anyone remember those daft action jack toys you used to get or when the six million dollar man was king and evil knievil was a god. Ossie Ardiles, Chris waddle, Davie Cooper and Brian Clough. Only posh people had half decent cars , i for one just made do with my homemade bogey ( go kart )made from pram wheels and boxes.summers were hot enough to melt the tar on roads and winter had 50 feet of snow ( well it looked like it to me ), We all ate Splicers and Texans ( a mans gotta do...)listened to Joe Dolce's shuddapayaface ( not me of course..just someone else i know )and when it was xmas day we all sat round the TV for the movie and no-one had seen it before becuase there were no video's ,DVD players or bloody internet to download it from. Innocent times but whats the betting that in 20 years time our kids will be on a Fiat Zod forum somewhere talking about their childhood and there really slow Broadband and what it was like only having 99 tv channels and how fantastic it was having a Bravo/A because it was a classic.

I have been thinking about this all day.
Remember the fascination with Tipex and taking the **** out of people riding Honda C90's. The new romantics and wearing hundreds of bangles. The girls wore Pixie boots and semi permed hair and stank of impulse - everywhere ;)
No-one has mentioned the rubics bloody cube or that long one that followed - I couldn't ever do either of them. How about spending rainy days doing airfix kits and painting them with humbrol paints.
Top Gun and Dirt Dancing were in the cinema as were First Blood, Rocky 1, 2 & 3, Desperately Seaking Susan had us beleive that Madonna could act. We also had Ghostbusters - nanananana GHOSTBUSTERS, Purple Rain and Absolute Beginners (God that was an awful film)
Remember Jive Bunny and the master mixers & Stars on 45. We also had "pump up the volume dish dish dur dur dum etc". Sigue Sigue Sputnik - what WAS that all about!
Did you cry a Charlene and er.... Jasons Characters wedding in Neighbours (I always fancied the other one anyway) Was it Buster the dog? I didn't mean I fancied Bust.. oh never mind.
Grange Hill, Pongo and of course Rowlaaand! Michelle Tully as some minger even then. We used to call mingers, MT's after her. Eastenders started in '84 and should have been buried there and then!
How about Angels and the Young Ones! Oh wow man how can you forget - heavy!!!
more to come.....

I've still got a pong game ,and a catapult, and an LED watch, and an Atari, and 3 Amigas, and....and....and an Angel tuned JTD Brava.... and I'm the oldest on here. Ask Nige.

not only did we not wear seat belts, we'd put the seats down in the estate (allegro in my case, yuck) roll out the nylon sleeping bags, zip em together into a kingsize one and go to sleep staring at the sky out the sun roof (it was cheaper to install one than repair the rust patch in the roof :) ). All without a single care for the possible quadraplegia resulting from a 70 mph impact recieved directly down the spine. Ah car journeys just ain't same :)

Oh Yes Grange hill, " Zammo Just say No "
Rubik's Snake...god that was un-do-able ( if that's even a word ).
The Young Ones..Classic
It was the Stock ,Aitken and Waterman era when every pop song sounded exactly the same as the last one, but then again the 80's did give us great actes like U2 and Pet Shop Boys....and how come Cream Eggs were twice the size or was it because my hands were half the size, 10 fags were 40p ( ice cream van at dinner time right outside the school...cheeky bastard )and a bag of chips was 10p but then again everything in the local sweet shop was 10p or you could get a 10p mixture that would last for ever.lol.
When you thought cool was someone with a mullet and gay moustache driving a Cortina, mark 1 Escort or later a Ford Capri, when people who were into computers were as geeky as the local chess club ....weren't the 80's fantastic.

The '50's were better. Imagine the jump from Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Dean Martin and the like, to waking up one morning and hearing Elvis Presley, Bill Haley, Little Richard, etc.
What a revolution!!!!!!!!
