Hello

My wife managed to run over a nail last night so am planning on changing the wheel to get her to garage.

Apparently has some groove which you insert scredriver for easy removal. For the life of me I cannot see this, and would rather remove it the easy way rather than force it off and possibly break it! Does anyone know where this groove is?

Alloys or steel wheels?

maybe be as well get it towed to a gagage to ensure the job is carried properly and look to see if the wheel nuts hold it on.

I'm assuming we're talking about the centre caps on the alloy wheels.

Poking a steel screwdriver into the gap between the trim and wheel is a good way to scratch both - plastic and aluminium are softer than steel.

One good removal tool is an old credit card. You can slip this between the trim and wheel, and if you then hook your fingers behind the card and pull, the trim should come off without damaging anything (except maybe the credit card). If you are ultra paranoid, you can put something on the ground in case the trim flies off and scratches itself on the ground. I just use my other hand to support the trim as it releases.

There is a tiny slot in the trim to help you get started.

Done this a few times now and never broken or scratched anything yet.

Hope this helps someone.
