My car used to drive perfectly until a couple months ago I had an issue with the gearbox and the garage took it out and fixed it.
Once I got the car back the steering wheel was a few degrees to the left when going straight and the car had developed the tendency to pull to the left or right when passing over uneven surfaces.

An wheel alignment straightened the steering wheel but the 'pulling' persisted.
A visit to the fiat garage and a further re-alignment did not cure the problem.

Now, being in Greece, the 1.9s are very uncommon and I suspect that they do the alignments based on the 1.4 sporting's geometry.

Does anyone know what could cause the 'pulling' or how different the geometry of a 1.9 is to the 1.4? Thanks..

Hi there, I am not entirely sure if my reply will be the answer to solving the problem but the "pulling" can also be caused by the suspensions parts and other things.
I had clutch and dual flywheel replaced in september and had to have wheel alighment, then my discs and pads & springs on the suspension replaced this month and it started pulling again but was told by several garages that my Wheel alighment was spot on.
Today I took it back to the garage who fitted my springs and was told that the springs were being "stiff" due to the part that keeps the springs in place. They are still working on my car tomorrow.
"pulling" of the car can be caused by other things than just wheel alighment. you might want inspection done on suspension and axle shaft parts by professionals.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the reply.
The second re-alignment was done by an official fiat garage and they supposedly checked whatever had to be checked. Still, no joy though..

Hiya,
i had the same issue with my 1.9. I too tried everything, and nothing seemed to work. In the end it turned out to be a weakened front left spring causing it to drift. Both the front springs were replaced under 3rd year warranty, and after that the car was fine.
Hope this helps friend.

Still no joy, after a 3rd alignment and further checks on the steering system.

On the checklist to check are the shocks and the power steering motor.
