my 45 runs 4k revs @ 80mph

turboned said:80mph generally equals about 4000 rpm, on a level road, at least it does on my car, then again i am running different wheels, an tyres 195/45/r15
these are 2 pics i took a long time ago.....please note, boost, good oil pressure, and warmed through oil and water......
i'd have to go with the negotiator on this one, can't see beyond a faulty, miswired rev counter, depressed clutch, or an outright fake. my personal opinion, you've got up to speed, then pressed the clutch, giving a slight drop in oil pressure, no boost, you've done it early after starting the car as neither oil or water are up to temp yet

EDIT: just took my car out and yeah, 2750rpm 5th gear at 60mph

1986 Uno 45S, 999cc FIRE with 5 speed gearbox.
60mph = just under 3000 rpm in 5th gear.
Muzzie, by the sounds of it your tachometer is under reading!
Muzzie said:Maybe so, but in the mind time I have you all wound upI have another test to confirm that though
Aftermarket tach!

I think you're a FAKE Muzzie!
Interesting that you have a miles-per-hour speedometer in NZ, like I do. The other Uno Turbos that I have seen here have all had km/h speedos.
My Mk1 Uno Turbo has a Tipo-style gearbox (linkages inside the car) and there is very little gap between 4th and 5th. At 100km/h in 5th, it is doing 3000RPM - double yours. This is even with 185/60 13 tyres. So, I think you must have a very different Tipo gearbox fitted, or you were dipping the clutch. Besides, your second photo is different again which is not exactly adding credence to the readingsNice odometer reading though!
Another interesting fact is that I can't maintain 100km/h without 0.3-0.4bar turbo boost. The fastest I can go without the turbo boost gauge registering is 80km/h. My Uno Turbo is super-economical and as you can guess, the turbocharger is very responsive because it's boosted-up most of the time! So, to take a photo at 100km/h with no turbo boost, the throttle would have to be fully closed - coasting, or in neutral...
Contrary to what someone said, I'd happily take you on in a race because if your gearing is that high in other gears, you'll be bogging down!

Mine 6500rpm (ish) at bout 135mph was getting blinded by the oil smoke from melted piston so may be a bit out...![]()

SteveNZ said:If you are doing that speed, the rev counter is incorrect! Mk1 does 3200 rpm at 100k. Tyre size is irrelivant
Muzzie said:Because at 100k on the dot, my aftermarket one says I'm doing 2800.
And if you slap 20s on an uno (I know not possible but still) then you won't be doing 3200 at 100.......... NO WAY IN HELL!
