Morbid curiousity got the better of me, and I'm curious to see what revs peoples car do at 100 in top.

Heres what the uno does :)

1.3L, EFi, Turbo, 5spd, 185/60/14 tyres.

Can anyone top that :) And I have pics at 80 as well to show proportions if anyone is interested.

I have no idea how to explain it, all I've done is put 185/60/14 tyres on it, nothing else has been modded. Would you like pics of me doing 100 in 3rd and 4th as well - give proportionate figures?

Makes for good gas mileage though!
 
I am very very sure you have fitted the rev counter incorrectly, even large diesels can't achieve that. 1500 is half what I would expect - 3k.

Show us the 80 picture?

I notice that you had no turbo boost at the time. Maybe you dropped the clutch and took the pic while you were coasting :confused:

Seems like very low revs to me, but as I haven't got a turbo to compare it with I'm not able to find out.

Then again, I'm sure my little 45 does about 2500 rpm (ish) at 60mph, and it doesn't have the torque that the turbo does. The turbo has a higher final drive ratio of 3.588: 1, whereas the 45 has a final drive of 3.733: 1. Ironically, the 45 has a higher ratio for 5th gear than the turbo (0.837: 1 compared with 0.863 :1). If it wasn't so late I'd get in my car and go and find what my 45 does!

Mind you, you're running 185/60 - 14" wheels/ tyres? The standard size for a Uno turbo mk1 is 175/60 - 13", so that means your wheels and tyres will have a great rolling radius than standard. If anything, your speedo should be under-reading for the actual road speed :confused:

Only another turbo owner can shed light on speedo/ revs combinations!

Nope, not been playing with photoshop. I can get a pic of me on boost if you wish. If i'm light on the gas I can drive around all day not on boost :p

The speedo under reads by 4-5k according to my GPS.
 
Overall tyre diameter using:

Using:

To save me doing the maths, at 1500RPM you will be doing 33mph with that final drive, tyre size and gear ration (final drive is 3.588 and 5th is 0.863)

2750RPM will do you 60mph (actual not indicated) according to that maths although since I haven't used my calculations don't rely on it but I assume no fault on that website.

For the 45 using the specifications given above, 3000RPM is bang on the money for the 45 @ 60mph assuming that the tyres are 145/70/13.
 
80mph generally equals about 4000 rpm, on a level road, at least it does on my car, then again i am running different wheels, an tyres 195/45/r15

these are 2 pics i took a long time ago.....please note, boost, good oil pressure, and warmed through oil and water......

i'd have to go with the negotiator on this one, can't see beyond a faulty, miswired rev counter, depressed clutch, or an outright fake. my personal opinion, you've got up to speed, then pressed the clutch, giving a slight drop in oil pressure, no boost, you've done it early after starting the car as neither oil or water are up to temp yet

well, most people keep they're eyes peeled for a set of Uno SX clocks, but they're getting rare :p

not as rare as UT clocks tho ;)
