Whats the Cheapest V6 Car to buy and Run?

I mean from insurance points of view, cost to maintain.

If it needs tuning then please include tuning cost if known.

No mention of the 5 pot please.......

Some of you must have thought about it

mitsubishi FTO must be on that list, a cheap import can be around £6k for a good one, for a exceptional one £8k-£10k

as for insurance there is a mitsubishi owners club insurance, you join the club £10 and they give you a 40% discount.

some large parts have to come from japan such as dash parts etc, but as for body pannels and mechanical parts there are a lot of fto's in this country now and they are common in scrapyards, there is one down south dedicated to fto's and gto's and other jap supercars, they have every part.

plus the car looks awsome :)

the golf vr6 can be cheap to pick up and go like sht off a shovel

not bad

not bad but can't get any insurance data on it

plus they all seem 96 cars, a few 200's on auto trader

re

surely sumink more boring like old laguna v6 or vectra v6 woudl be cheaper to buy?

or omega v6?

Re: not bad

Capri 2.8. You could probably get one of those for a couple of hundred quid

don't want an old one

don't want an old car, say about 7 grand's worth

Not looking, just thinking of my 25th birthday!

so got a year now

Re: don't want an old one

BravO 1.8 GT (Import)
T reg 1999
Abarth Kit, Leather, Power Flow Cat back,
JBL Sub, Crap amp!

Re: don't want an old one

Renault, Alpine GTA. V6 turbo.

Re: don't want an old one

They did an espace V6.

as mentioned the mondeo ghia and ST24/200 were V6. No flywheel either aparantly, all done by computer!

Alfa did a lot of V6 cars

Most BMW's seem to be flat 6's

VW Corrado VR6 were 2.9 V6 and went like hell! claimed to be the best coupe until the honda integra type R

Don't know what else to suggest

Get a lorry, we have an 18 litre V10, get about 11mpg too, quite good to say our old lorry was an 11 litre and did about 6mpg. 500litre tank so you can go a long way between fill ups.

biggest cost is your safety test every 8 weeks :(

hmmmm

hmmmm

has anyone thought, right want to upgrade i'm going to get one of these babies (part from the mondeo.....) and costed it out.

ie insurance groups for the cars and what you get for your 5-10k etc

also, maybe cars with a tad more style than a mondeo

Re: hmmmm

i looked at the corrado. The prices range from 2k to 9k, with no real difference between the high and low price cars, which confused me. Supposed to be very reliable but are getting old, running costs should be ok. Insurance was about the same as for a 20v turbo coupe from memory.

Re: hmmmm

just wondered why is it you want a v6? is it the sound or the power. cos for 5k - 10k you can get some seriuos power cars eg skyline?

cakes....eat them

both sound and power

but, doesn't have to be the best of the bunch as....like lots of people, you want it to be cheaper to run

basically i want my cake and i wanna eat the whole damn lot so i want abit of everything

power, style, sound, lower cost to buy and to own. nice handling would be good but not a priorty

will bend on practicality as you only live once.

i know petrol costs are going to be highish but.....something i am willing to give on, plus the missus pays half and hardly will drive it!

Re: cakes....eat them

I know its not what you asked for, but for sound and power i'd like an old shape Imprezza.

I know some people will disagree but i dont think it can be beaten for sound and ive been in a turbo model and i wouldnt call it slow.

But im not sure on ins group???
