Whats the best induction kit?

The best induction kit is teh one that comes as standard. An aftermarket kit costs about £135 upwards and will give maybe 2bhp at most.

the best kit i know of is a BMC CDA... i have one of these and there IS a noticable difference! there are rolling road figure of a 10bhp increase on a pug 206 1.4 ... so i think 2bhp is a bit of a **** take! different cars react differently!


enclosed induction kits are the best! and get almost double the gains!

how ever that k&n wont give much gain as it is open air, make sure you fit a decent cold air feed though, otherwise you will actually lose power as it will suck in warm air!

+ the added noise is nice!

If the standard one isn't the best induction for your car, why do the the manufacturers fit it to work with the engine in your car?

You'll never gain 10bhp with changing to an induction "kit" - Try again.
 
BGR, rolling road tests with the BMC CDA prove otherwise. i'm talking about independent testing (Nige) on real daily-driver cars

so what you are saying BGR is that nothing on any car can be uprated because the everything on the car is designed to work with it?
 
No, not at all.

The question was asked as to which induction kit was best and I answered with the standard one. Why would a manufacturer fit an air filter that did not work perfectly with it's factory settings as standard.

My opinion, I hasten to add.

I am looking at fitting one to my new Bravo ... are they easy to fit?

Any guides available? ... i.e. best position to allow a cold feed

1)why dont rally cars and race cars have wanky panel OE filters then???

2)why do standard ones need replacing every 10-12k? and a K&N after 1000k?

3)why is there such a large market for induction kits?

4)do fiat have an endless pot of money to develope the perfect induction system?

5)would fiat fiat an induction kit which will lower fuel economy?

6)why are the rolling road tests time and time again prove you wrong?

They are usually not running entirely standard engines and even if they were they have been tweaked to give max performance.

K&Ns need cleaning every few k.

To satisfy the modders and the maxxers.

More than K&N do on a per car basis.

No, they will fit whatever gives the best compromise between performance, MPG, noise, drivability etc...

Do they? They show a CDA gives an increase on a 1.4 Pug 206, not an HGT. As you said, different cars react differently. Also thats an increase in peak power, no indication how its changed the rest of the power curve. All very well if its +10 at 6000RPM but it could be -5 at 3000RPM.

Not that I can really talk as I have a big piperX on my 1.6 ;)

Tom said the magic word. compromise. thats what the standard panel filters are. they could perform better, but would require more maintenance, which the average driver cant be arsed with. speaking of being arsed, i really must clean my K&N soon

i didnt know fiat fitted a standard induction kit .....i know they fit a standard AIR FILTER
