Little trip out today to see a friend, 30 miles each way. Why is it that shortly before its due a service, the Panda goes all quiet and smooth?
Started the journey with the range suggesting 129 miles to empty. 10 miles later, having been restricted to a 45mph gentle run due to traffic, range declared 170 miles. Arrived at destination, 30 miles from start, range now 129 miles. That'll be a free journey then?
The return journey saw the range yo-yo a little as hills and faster roads were encountered. Arrived home to it reading 120 miles. So that'll be 60 miles, having used 9 miles of fuel. Silliness.
Fuel gauge suggests some has been used.

I was really surprised they are switching off the 2G and 3G networks, there are many old industrial devices that still use it, and not everything can be upgraded to 4G/5G, and coverage is not always 100% on the 4G in scotland, never mind 5G.

ave the same issue in large parts of Yorkshire…with the accompanying ee message ‘we are having some issues with coverage in your area’

Yup, both our ancient "dumb" mobile phones work on it so I suppose that's going to force us into buying "smart" phones now. Bet that's going to cost more than the one I have just now which came free as long as I loaded £10 into it. Last top up was for £20 almost exactly a year ago and there's still £9.00 in it now.

You can still get simple phones that just call/text on 4/5G

Absolutely. I harbour a silly wee longing for an SM. Actually owned a Dyane for a number of years when I was young, newly married and short on cash. That was full of character, some might say?
My tastes would run towards a 2CV, but then, I do ride a Ural.
Our first brand new car was a 1975 Honda Civic(Ballad). Character doesn't begin to describe it. When we traded it in on a 1978 Chevrolet Malibu Estate wagon in 1980, I didn't expect more character, but I got it. :(

I've always had a secret longing for an early Impala - the one with the sweeping "wings" on the back. Totally impractical for our roads, but doesn't stop me lusting after one! This one would be just perfect:

Yes, I'm quite attracted to that idea.
I think his point is that he now has to get a new phone or two
You're right, both Mrs J and I will need to get new ones and I think we probably should just "bite the bullet" and "join the revolution"! I do realize there are many advantages to a Smart phone and it will probably make life simpler with stuff like car parking in big cities etc. Gona probably cost a lot more to run though?

Many packages come with ‘free’ data. I’m on a £10 sim only deal with EE after dropping my contract with free upgraded phones. I’ve had my iPhone 11pro since then. However, free data is still with the caveat that it’s ‘reasonable’ and everything now is data intensive so goes through it like a g’ment PPE contract. The wife has a true unlimited everything contract, so, wehn mine runs out, she gifts me more

The 4 door hardtop is a rare beast on this side of the pond.

I've always found the big wings and tail fins ugly and impractical. Kind of mirrors what was said about the juke being ugly earlier.

Qbviously I don't agree on the ugly front, but impractical? hell yes! If you don't like the styling too extreme how about an early 60s Mercury Cougar? I remember being fascinated by the sequential indicators on the rear. A "better" Mustang perhaps?

Almost everybody had fins in the mid fifties to the early sixties. GM and Mopar kind of went overboard with theirs. Come to think of it, AMC was kind of nuts with the 58 to 60 run of the Rambler. Fins were followed by the fastback roofline along with the long hood, short trunk look with many 2 door hardtops. My 67 AMC Ambassador fell into that category, as did my 74 Opel Manta.

Had a phone call today to say my airbag module was all repaired, reset & so would be on it's way back to me so I should have it tomorrow ready to refit Saturday morning after near on a week with no car, so a day of work & with no car I quickly found myself quite bored so decided to give Luigi his weekly clean although he didn't need a proper wash as I hadn't been anywhere in it but I was suffering from incurable boredom 😂 so a quick snow foam & my usual mix of Turtle Wax black spray wax & Sonax BSD & then a quick going over with megiuars ultimate detailer got him to his usual best, I also put gtechniq C4 on all the trim just under a month ago, I'm a bit dubious about the 2 year lasting thing as I'm already starting to see the odd little bit of the fading on a couple of the edge bits coming back which is a little disappointing so time will tell 😂
