I'm undecided about a screen protector - but I'm a

Perhaps I'll take a look at his site and see if there's any sign of how many he's sold. Also what else he's selling - If it's all wet wipes and nail polish I'll just give it a miss ;)
I bought a cheap charger for my lap top a couple of months back. It turnrd up complete with HP hologram and apoeared to never have been used. £9 WAS A BARGAIN. It was from a nail polish and nappies seller. They did have a high rating tho.

This morning driving down a fairly prime road in our city.... a long time Ford dealership with a very big, American style all-glass (in a 90s sort of way) design has recently had half of its façade painted grey, and the most ugly, pathetic, tragedy of a bright yellow 'BYD' junk box on top of a spot where usualty there's been a bright coloured Mustang raised up... Y u c k.

How do the likes of Ford let this happen? Car companies in the UK and Europe need a lot more lobbying done to keep this crap off of our roads.

Very saddened to see this happen. I'd rather see Tata motors dealerships, or any other brand enter the market that plays fairly and ethically. Not stepping on skulls to destroy the market with trash quality products wasting earths materials like 'BYD'

I notice the multifranchise dealership near us, where I bought the Scala, has a large display of BYD now situated right in the middle of the showroom complex. I presume so you have to walk past then to view other makes? I know nothing about them but I'm getting the impression that they are not generally well thought of?

It may be a case of people realising at last, that you get what you pay for.
Much as in the past with chinese generators.;)

Well, they're not great quality wise - think modern MG. Offers you so much more on the spec list, copies most of the looks from bits and pieces of the first-world manufacturers and mixes them all together into something the non-car person would think looks good or blends in well with other new cars. So people buy them.

Though what we've seen in the past five years (especially with smartphones and electronics) is that the Chinese are making some quite good, feature packed, decent quality products and still selling them way under the cost of the lowest, most basic first-world brands offering. They're doing this in all countries that'll let them (think the US and Australia are amongst the few that are forward thinking enough to see the fall out from this in the near future, so have stopped it).

The plan is... win over all the customers, ensure the other companies can't compete, let them wind up or fail to compete (most of them are already bending over backwards to sell in the China market anyway, where much of the tooling and manufacturing kit / processes are being stolen and re-used domestically). Use their own innovation against the others.

My issue is how they do it... child labour, forced labour, slave labour, disregard for the environment / ethics in pretty much every way. Not just crafty private companies abusing workers / exploiting them for money, but actually the government itself forcing people into it and subsidising the price of the products sold around the world. Literally spending money to destroy the competition around the world. Being okay with making a loss because it's a long term investment for them.

They're not the only government to be at this. They're just the biggest, the smartest and the most successful. And with no counter-weights such as high courts, or economic or UN like bodies having any say or intervention, they can quite literally do what they want and get away with it. Indefinite dictators can overcome the limits of the four year at a time tenures (although to be fair, 14 years of the conservatives didn't really do much good overall lol). You can get a lot more done when you can think 150 years ahead, unopposed! Even take down the global electronics or car or <insert other> industries :-(

BYD = Burns Your Drive.

Well known to go up in flames especially in China where several whole dealerships have burned to the ground.

Because of no trade tariffs on Chinese cars coming to the uk and because China are making far more cars than they can actually sell they are about to start flooding the UK with these cars, apparently the first ship of about 8000 cars has just arrived on our shores and this is going to be the norm for many years to come, the idea being to flood the market with cheap cars making people less inclined to buy european brands. It’s a type of economic warfare that China like to play to make countries dependent on their products.

So a few months back I built a bespoke bike for my boy out of parts I acquired from all over.

An alloy frame, I custom built some straight spoke wheels, new light cranks and fitted new Vbrakes front and back. It looked pretty smart. He liked it, however, only being used to balance bikes he did not appreciate the added complexity of pedalling and so whacked his shins a few times trying to push it along with his feet, this put him off it completely and so he wouldn’t even try it because he kept “falling off” and he’d made comments about wanting “little wheels” on the side.

So I spent last night making some custom stabilisers from some Amazon scooter wheels, and some flat bar I had, also a few bolts and a coat of black paint. The problem with making a bespoke bike with quick release wheels is that normal stabilisers won’t fit.

I drilled and tapped the frame, shaped the bars and welded them, drilled and tapped holes for the wheel bolts and then gave the whole thing a coat of metallic black. I even put a set of aldi £5 bike lights on there.

The whole thing looked quite smart

This morning he came down to find it in the kitchen. And found it, rather than being pleased he complained it was “wobbly” because the wheels don’t always touch the ground so if he goes into a rut the back wheels doesn’t come off the ground, and then proceeded to tell me he was going to “smash it” and went and found a hammer which was promptly taken off him.
Later in the day he did try sitting on and pedalling it but I don’t think he was convinced.
So that was time and money well spent.

Our Governments haven't learnt the difference between protectionism and supporting our Country first.
Along with having our essential Utilities etc. foreign owned.
It seems they get swayed by all the "fantastic trade deals" without looking into the details.
You could argue that the politicians don't understand the technical bit, but what are all the Civil Servants doing whose job it is to go into the fine details of agreements.

They seem to have completely "lost the plot" no matter what their political persuasion. I remember my Mum saying, when I was given a very small weekly allowance, "Look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves" It's advice which has stood me in good stead all my life and I still follow today. Our leaders talk glibly of spending MILLIONS, nay BILLIONS, on various problems but not often on what actions result - seems to me, rightly or wrongly? that they are so used to these big figures that the hundreds get forgotten about let alone the pennies or whether it's of good value or something worth spending on. I decided quite early on in my life that there was little I could do to influence any of this so decided not to waste effort on it but to look at how it affects me directly and how best to navigate my little ship through the minefield.

They will never have to worry about the consequences, knowing in advance they will have a large index linked pension to fall back on, plus all the little side deals many have.:(

Aye Mike. My perception is there seldom seems to be any real personal price paid for their errors. Accountability? not a word that applies.

That is my main bone of contention these days, there is no accountability from any in power, from "weapons of mass destruction in Iraq", blood scandal, post office Horizon, Savile, etc., etc.
All the little people go to court within months of a crime, whereas those at the top of the ladder will live a long and profitable life and never have to account, knowing full well by the time anything is raised the public will have forgotten, all based on the theory of "Todays News is tomorrows chip paper".

It's odd how they pick up and drop things...mine had similar reaction to his bike had a period where he liked it but now you pretty much couldn't pay him to go on it.

The issue being he really likes running (not in sports day obviously where he just messes about) but if you're out and about on a day out and he properly runs then you can get a shock. He's at the point now where if he's got a 50 yard head start I'll need to sprint to make the difference up and he doesn't get tired as far as I can tell.

As a result the little bike feels like a lot of inconvenience to go a similar speed as we've always walked and ran together. "Do you want to go on your bike?" "No I'll run".

Don't worry, it gets worse, I used to be able to outrun my entire family, now that the four year grand daughter has pedals on her bike, the only way her mother and I can keep up is to cycle as well. Mind you the pub at the other end is a good incentive;)

If I had a bike and he had a bike that's fine cos I've got mechanical advantage on my side, he'd have to pedal far faster I could gear down.

Both on foot he's getting tall these days, has endless energy and when he runs has a proper stride. Yes, I travel further per stride...but other than that he's got all the cards 🤣.
