What's made you grumpy today?

When Tiff Needell was shown on 5th Gear putting a Jaguar into a near impossible situation and then using the electronic traction control to get himself out of it, most people who saw it thought: Ooh great, now nothing can go wrong! The same with ABS. Instead of keeping the same distance and using the electronics to increase the safety margin, we replace good driving practice with electronics, therefore, little or no benefit.

:yeahthat:

They should stick a predominant notice on the inside of the car saying this car can't deify the laws of Physics..

That is the exact reason why in a safe spot i demonstrated to my mate that electronic aids aren't idiot proof.

Oh and im grumpy its raining and all the snow is melting :(

It also gives the driver a false sense of confidence. all these ncap ratings and such make it seem to them that nothing can hurt them.

my macbook has started cracking

where you lean with your hands as you type and use the trackpad the edges have started cracking  i dunno if its wear and tear or if its an issue with how they are made. so i dunno if i can claim on the warrenty. im sure ive not had it a year yet.

That's bad! My so-called 'cheap' laptop's badly worn from two and a half years of heavy use but it's all cosmetic, wouldn't expect something as costly to break so soon

My punto getting driven into whilst parked, okay it was snow and slippy, but when the vehicle that hits your car is a bloomin Range Rover, i don't see it as an excuse

Oh no :( Is it badly damaged, given how big and heavy said range rover was?

@kay

you might have fun getting apple to pay out as they dont usually cover cosmetic damage. unless there is a recall or (as you found) its a common fault. tey will probably still try and get out of it though.

my grump: today and tomorrow off college and the bodyshop is still closed because of the snow.

damage is one thing
wear is another
we could get into the sale of goods act but given what a macbook costs i wouldnt expect it to crack in the described way through normal use.
given macs often intended /inferred use for graphics etc then that could be fairly heavy useage

i dont disagree custard. apple are a bugger when it comes to warranty repairs though. if you want some interesting reading i suggest you look at the warranty documentation for the iPhone 3G (www.apple.com/uk/support) basically they wont cover anything unless it is a malfunction which isnt caused by the user.

i use my mac as a normal laptop, but also for photoshop and illustrator for my graphic design stuff... so it gets used a hell of alot... its a common fault and im gonna get me wellies on a brave the snow to get it sorted. the amount this thing has cost me i wouldnt expect it to break so easy... especially as they are made for design purposes so you'd expect them being used lots you;d think they would be better built :(

you can write whatever you like in the warrenty, however the UK has some strong consumer legislation

Is that thw one at the bottom by the bus stop? I hate Mucklow Hill before I passed if I had morning lectures i'd have to walk all the way down it to get to college (parent worked at the top) was extremely scary walking down it when icy.

Driving up it is fun though 2nd 4/5,000 rpm good times. The faces on the chavs as my panda flies past them :D

Cant you delay your pass plus another week?

people telling noobs to got post in right section when they get it wrong instead of using the report button an asking for a move :(

but dave it says at the bottom when you click report

Note: This is ONLY to be used to report spam, advertising messages, and problematic (harassment, fighting, or rude) posts.
